responsibilities:

  • Oversees accounting functions including maintenance of accounts payable; ensures accuracy and timeliness of information.

  • Develops and implements procedures and policies related to accounts payable functions as well as monitors compliance to ensure adherence to company guidelines.

  • Oversees monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information.

  • Identifies and leads process improvement efforts, including system improvements, as needed to streamline accounts payable functions.

  • Provides accounting assistance to project managers and operations staff; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs.

  • Acts as a liaison between the company, government and external accountants to meet information needs and to ensure that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.

  • Selects and hires employees for the Accounts Payable team. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions.

Basic Qualifications and

Education Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in business administration, or accounting, or equivalent experience

  • Five or more years of accounting experience

  • Two or more years of leadership experience

  • Must have large ERP AP system experience, as well as 1099 filing experience, Oracle experience preferred

  • Strong computer and business solutions software skills

  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and upper management

  • Good presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, preferred

  • Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work

  • Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated

  • Demonstrated ability to work with team members in a hands-on capacity

  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software.

JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Under the direction of the Accounts Payable Supervisor, the incumbent assists in ensuring that all vendor bills are processed in accordance with company policy Essential duties include, but are not limited to: * Assists Accounts Payable Supervisor in preparing and reviewing monthly journal entries for accruals, expense and void checks * Determines compliance with Seminole Tribe of Florida's procedures concerning payments to approved vendors and for retrieving Federal I.D. numbers on current vendors * Reports cash disbursements on a daily basis * Assembles and reviews vendor invoices, purchase orders, receiving documents and other information for payment * Inputs accounts payable into the computer system Qualifications * High school diploma or GED with one (1) to three (3) years of experience with computerized Accounts Payable/general disbursements or a combination of education and/or experience preferred * Must possess excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills * Must possess basic mathematical skills to include ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide * Computer systems and 10-key adding machine experience required * Must possess ability to handle non-standard situations where some judgment must be exercised * Must be able to effectively communicate in English * Used to dealing with large volumes of paperwork is a must * Knowledge of a PO system is a plus Work Environment: * Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a professional office setting, but there may be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor or pass through this area.
