Accounts Payable Specialist

This person will be responsible for full cycle Accounts Payable including data entry, coding, filing, process expense reports, reconcile sub-ledger to G/L, and process checks.
Experienced/ Accounts Payable
Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying Federal Id numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.
Prepare wire transfer requests and Automatic Clearing House (ACH) transactions.
Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances; preparing checks.
Prepare and record journal entries, support schedules, account reconciliations, and roll forwards related to all facets of Accounts Payable.
Maintains historical records by filing documents.
Disburses petty cash by recording entry; verifying documentation.
Maintain 3 way match by verifying Invoice, purchase order and shipping documents tie.
Monitor prepaid and accrual activities on a regular basis.
Responsible for AP month end close.
Responsible for affiliate and intercompany payable transactions.
As directed by supervisor, cross-train in other functional accounting areas in order to provide occasional back up to other accounting operational areas.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Education and Experience
Must have 6-8 years of Accounts payable experience.
Associate degree would be a preferred.
Experience working with JD Edwards would be preferred.
Experience working with EDI would be a preferred.
Must be proficient in MS application such as Excel. Experience in Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP and Formulas.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks.
Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
Must have time management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Planning and organizing.
Strong communication skills.
Flexible work schedule including working overtime especially during month end close.
