JLM Strategic Talent Partners is currently looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist with experience in the construction industry to be a part of a major project in Kansas, MO. This is an exciting opportunity to join a major project with a leading company in the industry with tremendous career growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with project managers and field staff to generate construction documents
  • Research, gather and collect data to show progress and current costs to stakeholders
  • Coordinate with the business department, field engineers and subcontractors to obtain documents and track costs
  • Review and perform document control to maintain updated records
  • Analyze cost data to create time and materials cost packages
  • Review vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and validity prior to payment
  • Enter vendor invoices into the accounting system, ensuring accurate data and G/L account allocation
  • Communicate with other departments internally to follow-up on vendor invoice issues and discrepancies
  • Process check requests and expense reimbursement reports
  • Maintain vendor files and accounts payable documentation
  • Review vendor statements, research and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with other projects and ad hoc requests as needed
  • Assist with payroll entry/reporting as well as union reporting
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
  • May type correspondence, checks, reports as workload requires

Requirements

  • 1-2 years business school, accounting training or minimum 1 year accounting experience
  • Time & Material billing experience required
  • Accounts Payable experience required
  • Basic understanding of accounting procedures.
  • Construction Industry experience preferred
  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent
  • Microsoft Suite Experience (Strong Excel skills preferred)
  • Open and flexible work ethic

VIEW JOBS 10/17/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-01-15T00:00 As a Accounts Payable Auditor, you will be responsible for reviewing problem invoices for the company to ensure accurate billing. In this role, you will identify, research, and resolve issues on all problematic invoices for an assigned book of carrier accounts, with emphasis on minimizing negative financial impact to the company. You will be responsible for moderately complex routine and non-routine analysis to determine applicable contractual rates/rules to prevent missed revenue opportunities, research and resolve invoice disputes, and resolve overbilling issues. You will provide proper communication of audit results with the Customer Billing, Sales, and Carrier Solutions teams. Upon gathering all pertinent information, you will make any necessary changes in the accounts payable and billing systems to finalize a resolution. Our main priority continues to be the health and safety of our employees. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will be remote until further notice. We will continue monitoring the circumstances and when we feel comfortable, this position will return to the office in Kansas City, MO where you will have an opportunity to collaborate face-to-face with a talented and diverse group of peers. Responsibilities: * Review invoices in various queues to identify source of billing issues. * Troubleshoots internal systems and carrier documentation to research, substantiate, and resolve these invoice discrepancies. * Must possess a strong mental aptitude to quickly acquire an in-depth understanding of numerous internal applications/processes, thorough knowledge of all assigned carriers' contracts, pricing methodologies, and rules tariffs, along with a firm grasp of the transportation industry in general so that the root cause(s) of discrepancy items can be quickly identified. * Executes a high volume of transactions while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. * Communicates any issues with all stakeholders. May involve negotiating with carriers to resolve discrepancies, or discussions with internal Carrier Solutions, Sales, and Customer Billing employees to identify appropriate course of action required for resolution and to educate all parties involved to prevent a recurrence. * Updates the accounts payable and billing systems to ensure accurate carrier payment and customer invoice amounts. * Researches carrier contracts and rules tariffs to resolve pricing disputes. * Ensures proper receipt of funds owed by carriers due to won disputes, claims, etc. This is accomplished through negotiating the reimbursement method with the appropriate party and validating the reimbursement amount and could include deducting a balance from other carrier invoices.
