Accountemps has an excellent opportunity for a short term temporary-to-fulltime Accounts Payable (A/P) Clerk to join the team at an innovative company in the Education industry. Updating and reconciling sub-ledger to G/L, processing checks, processing expense reports, resolving A/P issues, and matching, batching, and coding invoices are just a few of the responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Clerk. You will be working alongside a strong staff of hard working individuals who have a team minded approach. Based out of the Washington, District of Columbia area, the Accounts Payable Clerk will be a short term temporary-to-fulltime opening. What you get to do every single day

  • Open, organize, and distribute department mail daily

  • Perform special projects as assigned

  • Ensure compliance with company policies while carrying out daily processes and controls accurately and on time

  • Handle administrative tasks for the AP/Finance Department

  • Provide internal and external audit assistance as required

  • Manage customer service tasks for internal business partners

  • Ensure invoices, checks, and other documents are properly sorted, logged, scanned, and filed

  • Verify, log and mail checks, including expediting special handling

  • Implement full-cycle A/P


  • AA or BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business or similar preferred

  • Abila MIP experience

  • Demonstrated communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills, especially with both technical and financial backgrounds

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Prior experience in an A/P role preferred

VIEW JOBS 11/3/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-01T00:00 The Accounts Payable Specialist will contribute to the efficient and effective workings of the accounting and finance department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail. This role will utilize strong accounting knowledge, time management skills and effective problem solving to ensure success. Responsibilities * Manage Vendor maintenance accounts; * Code invoices, expense reports, vouchers, check requests and other similar items with correct codes, conforming to standard procedures in entering data into the financial system; * Process Employee expense reports, verifying expenses are within the company guidelines, correcting errors, questioning abnormal expenses and entering into the accounting system; * Prepares batch check runs, wire transfers, and ACH transactions; * Perform Company credit card reconciliations and communication for obtaining supporting documentation; * Handle all vendor correspondence via phone or email; * Accounting point person for employee questions related to accounts payable or expense reimbursement; * File, maintain, and distribute accounting documents, records and reports; * Monthly reconciliation of A/P; * Apply payments received to customer accounts in A/R; * Assist with month end close and annual audit; * Assist with 1099 processing; * Perform other duties as needed, and as directed by Supervisor. Qualifications * Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience; * Minimum of 2 years of experience in A/P; * Experience with 1099 processing; * Good working knowledge of US GAAP; * Ability to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify information or data; * Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including utilization of pivot tables; * Excellent organization and time management skills; * Strict attention to detail and effective problem solver; * Effective communication skills with public and other office personnel; * Ability to follow up on pending issues; * Ability to meet deadlines.
