Purpose:

Worley is currently looking for a TEMP - HIRE Accounts Payable Project Accountant to support with a Joint Venture Project in managing the Accounts Payables and support with analyzing and reporting on all aspects of all the JV. The ideal candidate will ensure that the JV's financial performance is correctly measured on a monthly basis and manage the invoices and accounts payables day to day duties for the JV. This position will be on a contract basis for 3 months at which point if the candidate is successful through the probationary period, he/she will be hired on as a full time employee with Worley.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of partner invoices (ensure coding is complete, purchase orders attached).

  • Interpret Oracle complex and simple Purchase Orders for matching and uploading Excel templates into Oracle and resolve exceptions;

  • Scrutinizing the invoice and ensuring that is adheres to all internal policies & procedures and where the invoice details are incomplete, contact the relevant person and get/track revised invoices;

  • Passing monthly accounting entries Journal Vouchers and meeting the deadlines.

  • Preparing certain expense schedules related to statutory audit;

  • Assist with month end closing, calculating statutory liabilities and providing the data in the required way to the tax group for tax assessments, etc.

  • Ensures contractual and joint venture operating agreement compliance and participates in audits and resolution activities.

  • Analyze, monitor and action gross margin at the project level for key BP GOM assets ensuring all transactions are captured according to GAAP and company policy (cost, revenue recognition etc.)

  • Monitor, report weekly on project AR and WIP status to support the JV cash management process

  • Maintain the JV partner payment reconciliations and other key balance sheet accounts

  • Support the BP GOM asset billing process as needed (there are FT billing coordinators assigned who may need support on occasion)

  • Reviews project transaction documents and accounts for accuracy and completeness, including sub-charges, data sheets, time reports, expenses, subcontractor invoices, etc.

  • Works with Billing Coordinators in the production of customer invoices, credit notes, and back up documentation.

  • Reviews draft invoices for accuracy prior to submitting for Project Manager approval.

  • Produces and analyzes trend and variance reports as needed.

  • Ensures project profitability is maximized for the project.

  • Identifies areas of potential project gross margin improvement; ensures accurate recovery of all costs as defined in the contract and ensures non-billable costs are minimized.

  • Works directly with customers to ensure invoices have been received, approved, and actioned.

What you will bring

Required Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Degree in Finance or Business Administration

  • 5 years Finance/ Accounting experience with more than half in the Engineering & Construction industry

  • Experience with Oracle & Hyperion Financial Management Systems

  • Technical and analytical accounting skills

  • Understanding of GAAP and IFRS

  • Maintains the highest professional ethics and standards

  • Project size, complexity, and/or risk increases with each level in the Project Accounting roles

  • Requires comprehensive Excel skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Must be able to successfully exercise independent judgment

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Sense of urgency to deadlines

  • Must be detail oriented

Qualifications: * 2-4 years of experience in relevant Accounting positions. * Bachelor's Degree in related field of study. * Outstanding knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). * Strong interpersonal skills and respect for diversity. * Attention to detail and time management. * Excellent communication skills, written and oral. * Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
