The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for performing the day to day operations of the accounts payable processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Accounts Payable invoices for assigned vendors.

  • Verify appropriate approvals on invoices.

  • Match invoice to Purchase Order.

  • Monitor LCE Purchasing Policy.

  • Research all vendor statements and resolve issues on a timely basis.

  • Code vendor payables with vendor numbers and account numbers.

  • Research any past due charges to avoid duplicate payment.

  • Enter payables into system for payment.

  • Review payable entries for accuracy; check account numbers, vendor names, amount paid.

  • Correct any errors before posting.

  • Handle vendor phone calls.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to use 10-key calculator

  • One to two years accounts payable experience

  • Good organizational and communication skills.

  • Data entry skills

VIEW JOBS 4/3/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-02T00:00 Crain Communications is currently seeking a Accounts Payable Clerk to assist in the Finance Department. This position will report to the Accounts Payable Manager and will be located in our downtown Detroit location. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and must be a team player. Responsibilities * Respond to all vendor and internal inquiries via phone, email and fax * Perform revenue validation for invoicing activities (may include 75 - 100 invoices daily) * Resolve coding, invoice and payment discrepancies to accurately balance at the close of each business day * Audit purchase order numbers and coding to ensure they are present and correct for processing * Process electronic images of invoices from assigned vendors on a daily basis * Verification of invoice image names to ensure the the image is saved using the appropriate naming convention * Facilitate weekly check run from start to finish including: * Running reports, balancing and logging totals to be sent for approval * Transmitting ACH and POS pay files to banking institutions * Processing wire transfers in banking system * Contacting vendors or paying online via credit card when applicable * Approve expense reports in Concur * Build positive rapport with Crain employees and outside vendors * Support Accounts Payable Manager with ad-hoc projects/assignments Basic Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent * Two (2) years or more of accounts payable experience * Experience using Peoplesoft or a comparable software * Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel, Word and Outlook) * Effective verbal and written communication skills * Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments * Keen attention to details * Ability to work well within a team dynamic Preferences * Associates Degree in Finance or a related field * Experience with Concur is a plus * Previous experience using Adobe Company Overview Crain Communications has been at the forefront of the publishing industry for more than a century.
