Accounting Clerk Accountemps is seeking an Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Clerk to join a team of highly skilled professionals in a stimulating non-profit work environment. In this position, you will be required to manage all general administrative needs of the Accounting/Finance Department. You will work closely with and report to the Accounting Manager. Matching and batching invoices, resolving A/R issues, processing high volume invoices, and processing checks are integral functions for this position. Located in Lansing, Michigan area the Accounting Clerk will be a short term temporary-to-fulltime opening. What you get to do every single day

  • Process high volume invoices

  • Handle the customer service needs of internal business partners

  • Manage validating, recording, and mailing checks and expedite special handling

  • Carry out daily processes and controls accurately and on time, and ensure compliance with company policies

  • Facilitate internal and external audits as needed

  • Assist the Accounting/Finance Department with administrative tasks

  • Execute additional tasks as needed

  • Manage department mail by opening, sorting, and distributing it on a daily basis

  • Sort, log, scan, and file invoices, checks, and other documents


  • AA or BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business or similar preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Prior experience in an AP/AR role preferred

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Solid understanding of accounts payable and receivables

  • Demonstrated communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills, especially with both technical and financial backgrounds

Learn more at Overview The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB Corporation is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant/Accounts Payable Assistant located in our E. Lansing, MI office. This is a part-time, 20 hour per week position working Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. This position is slated to start in January 2019. For more than 25 years, the HNTB Michigan offices have planned, designed, and delivered some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in Michigan. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to some of the most transformational transportation projects throughout Michigan. Job Summary Under a moderate degree of supervision, provides general administrative support typically to managers and other department staff. Administrative functions may include maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, handling correspondence, distributing mail, filing, and performing other duties to support the manager and department as needed. Utilizes Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various HNTB software applications to perform tasks. Essential Responsibility * Maintains calendars and schedules appointments. * Coordinates and schedules meetings and prepares meeting agendas. * Coordinates and arranges travel and accommodations, and prepares travel itineraries. * Directs incoming calls, welcomes visitors, and answers routine questions. Sorts and distributes incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail. * Compiles basic reports or presentations with information from established sources as directed. Prepares a variety of correspondence with a moderate degree of guidance. * Organizes and maintains office files (electronic and hardcopy) and records in accordance with internal retention policy and procedures. * May perform data input and prepare forms in support of the manager or department. * Performs other duties as assigned. Additional ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable: - Performs general data input, processes labor and expense transactions, and corporate forms for general accounting and projects. - Codes invoices for payment and submits weekly invoice package. - Prepares expense reports with proper account/job coding based on time-cards, mileage logs and other backup. - Works with HNTB applications to perform tasks to support office/department. Administrative: - Maintains established office files (electronic and hard-copy) and records in accordance with internal procedures. - Receives and refers visitors and telephone callers, may resolve routine inquiries. - Opens and distributes mail, ships packages. - Manages off-site storage of records. - Orders supplies. - Arranges lunches for meetings as requested. - Type material from rough drafts or revised typed drafts following standardized formats. - Drafts and type routine letters and memoranda from specific instructions. - Assembles and complies basic data for reports or presentations from established sources as directed. - May schedule and maintain calendar of appointments, meetings and travel itineraries and coordinates related arrangements. - Perform other duties as assigned. - May assist with vehicle administration tasks.Basic Qualification High School Diploma/GED or equivalent 2 years related administrative experiencePreferred Qualification/Skills- Ability to maintain confidentiality. - Planning, time management, and organizational skills. - Ability to balance multiple tasks and changing priorities. - Detail oriented *LI-AKGeneral Work Conditions Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions.
