The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) affects every household in Ohio by regulating publicly owned providers of all utility services, including electric and natural gas companies, local and long-distance telephone companies, water and wastewater companies, rail and trucking companies. The successful Senior Financial Analyst will:

Independently or as lead worker:

Serve as accounts payable coordinator for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO); prepare, compile and verify statistical, financial, accounting or auditing data, enter transactions and submit for approval.

Prepare pre-processing forms for Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Office of Shared Services (OSS) and matches purchasing documents with invoices; prepare journal entries when appropriate to ensure accurate grant records and perform agency receiving of goods and equipment; verify vendor transactions are coded appropriately to capture data for State and/or Federal initiatives/programs.

Assist with agency's annual 1099 report; perform periodic reviews of agency allotment budget and track budget; reconcile and verify fiscal transactions to ensure legal compliance and reporting integrity; research inquiries from internal and external auditors during and after audit. Identify necessary budget changes and adjustment to meet current operating situation.

Serve as agency travel coordinator to implement PUCO policy and follow OSS and Office of Budget and Management (OBM) policy and procedures, administer out-of-state travel program and intrastate travel. Serve as back-up and assist with projects as assigned.

Completion of graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; AND 6 months experience or 6 months training in accounting and/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

  • OR completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; AND 18 months experience or 18 months training in accounting and/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • OR 42 months experience or 42 months training in accounting and/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • OR 12 months experience as Financial Analyst, 66562.
  • OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 months of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
