Duties

Major duties include, but not limited to:

  • Assist employees and patients with preparation of travel requests.

  • Assist employees with the use of the online employee travel system as the main point of contact.

  • Assists customers by phone and in person with questions regarding the employee travelprocess, policy, and requirements.

  • Maintains & routinely monitors all VHSO and supporting CBOC employee profiles with the

Concur Government Engine travel site.

  • Provides training to potential employee travelers pertaining to the Federal Travel regulationsand guidelines.

  • Prepare travel authorizations through the employee travel system.

  • Process requests for travel advances, purchase airline tickets, analyze travel itineraries/tickets, audit travel vouchers.

  • Assist employees and other facilities in coordinating Permanent Change of Station.

  • Provide cost estimates to assist managers in evaluating requests for travel.

  • Formulate most convenient and economical travel arrangements for employees.

  • Coordinates arrangements and informs individuals of gov't travel regulations for preemployment interview travel.

  • Investigates authorizations, orders, and/or utilizes System (Vista) to review patient records.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30Pm. subject to change based on the needs of the agency.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/12/2024.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

  • Specialized Experience for GS 06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 level in the Federal service that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Accounting Technician position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: Experience assisting customers with completing forms and experience using telephone, email, or instant messaging applications; Experience processing and reviewing documents to ensure all documents required are received; review requests received for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to policy; Experience utilizing electronic systems to access, input, process, and update orders, and to maintain information necessary to accomplish time sensitive functions; Experience planning and carrying out an established sequence of steps or techniques for work assignments in accordance with oral or written instructions, policies, training, or previous exposure to accepted practices for handling similar situations; Experience applying accounting policies and procedures to classify events for subsequent posting to systems of record. This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Sedentary work majority of time. Pulling and filing documents. Approximately eight hours per day spent at computer terminal.
