The Child Support Enforcement Division (CSED) is currently recruiting Accounting Technician 2 to fill a full-time permanent position in our Anchorage office.

What you will be doing:

This position is responsible for independently performing audits and adjustments of child support cases, which requires documenting support, payments, and credits in compliance with appropriate statutes and regulations.

Duties require the incumbent to reconcile financial data from multiple databases or records from another child support agency. Other adjustments may include new case setup, reinstatements, modifications, and distribution verifications when children are receiving public assistance benefits under Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Tribal TANF, and Foster Care.

The position is also responsible for training accounting technicians and promoting good working relationships with staff within the Division, State, and other agencies.

Whom we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping practices and accounting procedures, practices, and terminology in order to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Working knowledge of techniques and methods used in reconciliation of accounts and auditing, including the ability to identify discrepancies or inaccuracies in data and make corrections.

  • Ability to use strong analytical and detail-oriented skills to collect, organize and analyze accounting data, including revenue and expenditure accounts, interpret its significance, and prepare accurate reports.

  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to train or lead staff.

One year of entry technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience.

Substitutions:

Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.NOTE: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY
