SAIC currently has a need for an Accounting Team Manager in Reston, VA.

The Manager will be responsible for leading an Accounting team for our National Security Group within SAIC.

Primary job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage a team of Accountants and Sr. Accountants responsible for periodic and quarterly close cycles, direct cost accruals, revenue recognition, and review of unbilled accounts receivable.

  • Responsible for determining appropriate revenue recognition on contracts and reviewing CostPoint project set up for accuracy based on the terms and conditions of the contract

  • Coordinate the quarterly Estimate at Completion (EAC) process for the National Security Group including review of EACs for compliance with GAAP.

  • Journal entry preparation and review for direct cost accruals and revenue adjustments

  • Interacting with business operations directors and managers to communicate periodic program financial results

  • Support the quarterly external financial close process through fluctuation analysis and assistance in development of certain revenue related disclosures



  • Bachelors and ten (10) years or more of related experience; Masters and eight (8) years or more experience.


  • Strong GAAP knowledge applies accounting and financial procedures in resolving problems and preparing recommendations for management based on the financial results.

  • Proven working experience as accounting manager or supervisor positions.

  • Advance excel skills be able to use complex excel formulas.

  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven process improvement experience.

Other duties include development and oversight of accounting policies and procedures, audit support, developing metrics and accounting controls, as well as supporting senior Finance team with reporting and financial closing duties. The ideal candidate will have senior level experience managing AP/AR teams in large government contracting companies. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES * Manages the accuracy and productivity of day to day activities of AP/AR teams. * Reviews project set-ups in Costpoint * Assists DCAA billing audits and may assist in contract close-out activities * Develops methods to automate billing and time reporting processes * Assist with analyzing of unbilled revenue and revenue recognition * Lead implementation of best practice processes in Accounting and Finance department, especially Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable * Analyzes and interprets financial data and recommends changes to improve systems and financial performance. * Participates in projects performed by the Accounting Department. * Identifies potential problems or areas for improvement and provides solutions. * Performs other duties as assigned by management. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor's Degree (Accounting/Finance/Business required); or equivalent work experience * Minimum of 10 years' of accounting experience in the government contracting space. * Proven experience managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams with a large government contractor. * Previous supervisory experience * Prior experience in U.S. Government contracting environment * Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills * Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize multiple on-going projects in a fast paced environment * Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite applications * Working knowledge of Deltek CostPoint accounting software ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Work Environment * Normal office working conditions. * May require ability to lift/and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
