As an Accounting Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the automation in the accounting organization with the current systems and will help drive new accounting system technologies. In this role, you will interface with internal customers and support compliance with internal and external auditors.

  • Build dashboards and KPI's using platforms such as Power BI and Tableau

  • Understand the processes and recommend the best course of action towards automation and efficiencies

  • Support compliance with internal and external auditors

  • Interface with and support internal customers


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Systems

  • 5+ years of accounting, finance, and/or systems experience

  • Must have strong Blackline experience as a super-user, especially with tasks, reconciliations, JE and matching modules

  • Experience with complex, high-volume transactions

  • Advanced MS Excel (VBA, Power Query, Power Pivots, Arrays, DAX)

  • SAP or similar large ERP system experience

  • Strong knowledge and application of accounting principles, practices and systems

This position focuses on the accounting for the Long Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) processes. The role is responsible for taking a lead with the overall company's compensation accounting operations and policies by supporting payroll, employee benefit, workers compensation, retirement, short and long-term compensation, health and welfare, medical, and other compensation accounting, ensuring operational and financial controls, consistency, best practices and cost control. This position is not eligible for International Relocation Program benefits. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA) * Records accounting journal entries related to all aspects HFC's payroll and benefits including stock expense, dividend accruals, re-classes and stock vesting. * Answers questions from compensation related departments, award recipients, and employees regarding a variety of compensation accounting related questions such as grant terms, vesting, bonus, payroll, etc. * Maintains account reconciliations for payroll related accounts including stock reconciliations. * Performs general accounting activities for compensation and benefits accounting. * Acts as the point of contact for compensation accounting related questions. * Tracks stock shares and units outstanding on a regular basis to include, but not limited to, reconciling to the transfer agent (EQ) and tracking of shares available under the compensation program * Calculates new grant decisions setting up the liability as well as uploading files to Shareworks. * Ensures compliance with the Company's Accounting Policies and Procedures for compensation accounting issues to ensure Controller's department is in compliance with GAAP and other relevant government controls, rules, regulations, policies and procedures * Maintains the reconciliation of share available for use, treasury stock and cash equivalent grant for international recipients. Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in general accounting. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of Oil & Gas industry experience. Stock plan accounting experience. REQUIRED EDUCATION: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, and Finance or related. REQUIRED SKILLS: Proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, etc); strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication; analytical, problem solving and decision making skills; and detail oriented. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with accounting software. A broad and deep understanding of accounting practices and procedures. Ability to handle confidential information including Protected Health Information (PHI) and all compliance issues in relation to HIPAA regulations. PREFERRED SKILLS: SAP experience Stock plan accounting is preferred but not required WORK CONDITIONS: Office based. Subject to all varying road and weather conditions.
