This individual will be under the direction of the Manager Ledger Systems, and will be involved in analyzing output from U-Haul accounting systems that are integral to the monthly ledger close process. Analyze and enhance existing processes to retrieve data for reporting purposes. They will be in a decision making role and will be project based.


  • Reasonable and predictable attendance is essential.

  • Analyze system processes for process improvements and recommendations.

  • Design, test and implement system processes.

  • Work as accounting liaison between accounting users and programming staff.

  • Identify and coordinate development of financial systems program enhancements and modifications.

  • Manage system data. Verify data accuracy initially and monitor as updates or changes occur to ensure data integrity.

  • Generates reports and review for reliability.

  • Plan, coordinate and/or implement user support services such as training, documentation and communications.

  • Analyze user requirements, procedures and problems to automate processing or to improve existing computer system.

  • Write detailed description of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer program.

  • Prepare workflow charts and diagrams to specify, in detail, operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs and operations to be performed by system personnel.

  • Work as a lead on assigned projects and make decisions on behalf of the Ledger Systems group.

  • Review work of Ledger Systems personnel for accuracy


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field or the equivalent in experience.
  • 2-5 years' experience in analytics, computers and/or accounting experience required.


  • Expert-level knowledge of computer systems and functionality, especially Excel and at least one accounting system.

  • Prefer Access and SQL experience.

  • Must have excellent research and analysis skills, have the ability to work both in a group and independently, and be detailed oriented.

  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), be able to multi-task and take initiative with projects.

  • Must have excellent time management skills and be able to shift workload as necessary due to changing priorities.

  • Must have the ability to think analytically and to act tactically.

  • Must have SAP and Development.

  • Experience creating flow charts and process documentation highly preferred.

System deliverables include validating artifacts, developing system requirements, and assisting with translation into functional system specifications. IT Systems Analysts research and help resolve defects and production issues with business and technical teams and assist with defining and creating test case scenarios. In addition, responsibilities include participation in the sign-off of key deliverables and the storage of critical artifacts, as well as accountability for managing systems requirements and artifacts to IT team members. Tasks: * Understand and applies advanced knowledge of the business and technical domains supported to include its products, processes and services. Serves as a business proxy/SME on business topics within one or more domain. * Serves as the conduit between the customer community (internal & external) and the software development team through which requirements flow. Facilitates/overseas the analysis and design of technology solutions to ensure business needs are met. * Effectively leads the elicitation and documentation of system requirements and solutions into work products. Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customer to analyze information needs and requirements to deliver system artifacts as needed. * Manages and ensures traceability of approved and base-line work products through the software development life cycle to include application specifications, design, development, usability, testing, implementation, and defect prioritization. * Provides guidance on Test Scenarios and reviews Test Cases and ensures coverage of testable requirements. Collaborates with Test Leads and subject matter experts to establish the Testing Approach including usability and performance needs. * Provides certification and actively participates in defect management activities to confirm requirements are being met. Manages change control for affected system artifacts. Technical requirements: * Knowledge of Agile practices * Strong facilitation skills * Strong problem identification and resolution skills * Object Oriented Analysis and Design * Unified Software Development Process * Software Product Engineering Life Cycle * Visio Minimum Experience: * 6+ years relevant experience to include continuous process improvement, project management, business/requirements and analysis, and/or technical proficiency. * Bachelors degree or 4+ years of work in the Information Technology field.
