About the Position

The Accounting Supervisor will work, along with their team, on General Accounting / Internal Controls, the month-end close responsibilities and quarter-end consolidated financial accounting and reporting activities to ensure compliance with all external and internal requirements in support of the Plants for the Americas. This individual will also work with other internal departments within Goodyear including Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations. This position will also be responsible for managing 5 Direct Reports, including Performance Management team development and mentoring.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries. Reconcile various balance sheet accounts monthly.

    Provide supervision for and review of, selected account reconciliations and journal entries monthly. Coordinate financial statement closing activities monitoring and communication of closing status, troubleshooting issues, performance of internal controls over financial statement close process

  • Manage segregation of duties and restricted access process. Prepare various monthly reports for internal consolidated reporting package.

  • Utilize US/Local GAAP and assist in applying US/Local GAAP to transactions that are accounted for and reviewed by the department. Prepare complex financial statements and/or complex footnotes for the department's quarterly SEC filings (10-Q and 10-K) and provide support to internal/external auditors.

    Support quarterly earnings call materials. Coordination with Investor Relations, Treasury, FP&A.

  • Work with internal/external auditors to provide necessary requests for quarter-end reviews and year-end audit. Work with other departments on accounting matters and serve as a source of information relative to such matters. Participate in meetings and advise on the financial implications of matters under discussion.

  • Perform various ad hoc analyses to support Goodyear's business operations as necessary.

Required Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance

  • CPA and/or an MBA or advanced degree in accounting is desired

  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting and/or finance experience.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of SAP and Hyperion preferred.

    Strong analytical and organizational skills, able to understand complex data and issues with demonstrated ability to think outside the box. Experience with interpretation and application of current U.S. generally accepted accounting standards.

This includes; providing the Americas related disclosures for 10-Q, 10-K, various government requirements, and internal financial analysis as well as SOX compliance and documentation for North America Consolidation Accounting, US Accounting programs and Financial Close. Resource for North America businesses to improve financial performance and operations and ensure all transactions are in compliance with GAAP/Corp Policy. Primary Responsibilities * Manage NAT closing and reporting processes to satisfy internal and external customers by providing timely and accurate financial information. Provide in depth analysis on NAT's financials for NAT and Goodyear management. This includes analysis on NAT's EBIT, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Inventory, SAG, Imports, and Export A. * Directly responsible for NAT's accounting consolidation process, including sales eliminations, deferred profit, statistical 1-4s, and intercompany AR/AP balancing. Manage NAT accounting for inventory reserves, finished goods standard costing, product warranty, legal liability, EPA accruals, PPV, real estate, and business divestitures. Provide accounting support and guidance to PBUs and subsidiaries during closing process. * Ensure relevant business process controls and processes are documented and tested and that no un-remediated control gaps exist by organizing and installing effective account reconciliation, review and oversight processes. * Advise business operational functions, PBUs and subsidiaries on implementation of new processes and their impact on NAT's financials. Evaluate and implement procedures and processes to comply with new Corp policy and GAAP.  * Hire and develop associates by transferring knowledge of operations, financial concepts and business issues. Utilize management tools to provide associates with performance feedback and facilitate their development. Required Education and Experience * Bachelors' degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management.  * Masters' in Business Administration or Masters' of Accountancy, CPA, CMA, or Certified Financial preferred. * A minimum of 7+ years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience (preferably in a large corporate or manufacturing organization)  * Cross functional experience in various financial roles, including both corporate and operational finance. * Experience with leading teams through complex processes, projects, and process improvements.
