The Accounting Supervisor oversees accounting activities for an accounting group or function, including ensuring compliance with Company policy, GAAP and other technical accounting guidelines. The Accounting Supervisor provides direct supervision to subordinate accountants, maintains proper internal financial controls, and administers accounting policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
Responsible for fulfilling the accounting liaison activities for Company projects. Responsibilities include understanding numerous systems, documenting processes, building efficient processes, implementing detective controls when necessary, creating and executing test scripts, validating financial data and leading the accounting team. The accounting supervisor is capable of pursuing unstructured projects with a focus on developing and applying structure going forward.
Conduct business analysis as a set of tasks and techniques to work as a liaison among stakeholders to understand the structure, policies and operations of an organization and recommend solutions to enable the organization to achieve its goals
Document system processes that support financial events and create related test scripts
Build efficient processes and develop detective controls when required
Plan, lead and execute system testing and related financial validation
Leverage system knowledge to improve department and cross-department processes
Responsible for system maintenance related to cost centers, chart-of-accounts, legal entities, ledgers, reports
Responsible for system tasks related to month-end close (i.e. open/close periods, Fx rates, translation, etc.)
Gatekeeper for system general ledger responsibilities
Identify discrepancies resulting from system issues and guide resolution in accordance with accepted accounting policies and procedures
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of company system integrations
Lead accounting projects
Ensure transparency of important transactions and issues via communications within chain of command of department and field operations
Administer and direct continuous improvements to current practices/processes.
Collaborate with other departments to meet company goals
Oversee the timely and accurate processing of accounting data.
Develop strategic and operational plans to achieve results and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
Set goals for the work group, manage execution and measure results.
Select, manage, evaluate and develop staff. Challenge employees; build effective teams; develop organizational capacity; and provide direct and indirect reports with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities.

Administer, direct and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statements and reports for use by other functional areas per the accounting calendar and as otherwise required.

Ensure compliance with WESCO Corporate policies and procedures.
3 years required, 5 years preferred of accounting experience.
2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Associates' Degree in Accounting or related field required; Bachelors' Degree preferred.
CPA, MBA or equivalent a plus
Minimum of six years of progressive accounting experience
Well organized with attention to detail and accuracy
Strong oral and written communications skills - ability to clearly communicate accounting ideas and concepts to an audience with a wide range of experiences and knowledge
Proven problem solving and analytical capabilities
Proficiency in Oracle Financials a plus
Ability to simultaneously pursue individual and group objectives
Ability to maintain positive relationships with employees and management inside and outside the department
Ability to pursue unstructured projects with a focus on developing and applying structure going forward
Advanced knowledge of accounting processes and techniques
Knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, internal controls and SOX requirements
Strong general business skills and common sense approach to issues
Strong skills using Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
Ability to deal effectively with customers, vendors, and outside agencies
Ability to work under tight time schedules and to handle multiple tasks
