The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County's most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. Job Summary

OCDE's Administrative Services Division highlights, promotes, and supports the work of the Orange County Department of Education. The Fiscal Services Unit is responsible for OCDE's internal business and includes Budget, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and the Department's General Ledger.

Fiscal Services also acts as a liaison with our external auditors for the preparation of the Annual Financial Report. OCDE is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as Accounting Supervisor for the Fiscal Services Unit. The selected candidate will under direction, plan, organize, and supervise the work of an assigned accounting section; perform complex, professional accounting, financial, and other analyses in the preparation and maintenance of OCDE's financial records, reports, and systems; provide a basis for sound operational and financial planning through financial review, analysis, monitoring, reconciliation, and maintenance of assigned financial accounts, programs, and activities; and performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor's Degree with a major in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field. • Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience. • At least two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity • Experience in a school district or governmental agency is preferred.
