Overview

Responsible for overseeing the tactical accounting functions; accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll. Works collaboratively with Finance leadership and across all business functions in support of business decisions and ensures appropriate financial controls are embedded in all finance processes and provides leadership to the Accounting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for timely month-end closing of accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll. Reviews required month-end reports and reconciliations.

  • Provides support to the Finance Team to ensure complete and compliant financial accounts are prepared each month within the published timetable.

  • Assist with the preparation and review of the monthly financial statements.

  • Drives continual process improvement to increase efficiency and ensure successful implementation of those improvements. Assesses and develops new tools to improve accounting procedures and processes.

  • Audits workflow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with GAAP under established internal controls. Supports budgeting activities. Assists the Director of Finance with a variety of tasks and handles special projects a requested by management.

  • Supervises, supports, and provides leadership and direction to the tactical Accounting Team (A/R, A/P, & Payroll):

  • Recruits and builds a talented workforce with strong financial aptitude.

  • Develops, mentors, and builds strong teams, leading to high levels of performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 2-3 years of supervisory experience

  • High proficiency in MS Office, particularly with Excel, Access and PowerPoint

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively motivate, lead and manage employees at a variety of levels.

  • Demonstrates good organizational skills and the ability to manage time and resources effectively.

  • Demonstrates the ability to align work with the strategic goals of the organization while understanding business implications of decisions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments to leverage perspectives and drive optimal results.

  • Demonstrates successful operation of a customer service environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong data analysis skills; financial/business modeling experience a plus.

  • Experience creating effective and efficient customer service programs and associated metrics.

Drug Screen and Background Check required.

The incumbent is required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and applicable laws. This position does not involve, hiring, firing, or disciplining associates or recommending any such action. Situations surrounding these issues should be brought to the attention of the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager. The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned: * Provide superior customer service by assisting customers with their shopping needs, handling all customer transactions in a timely and courteous manner, and responding to customer complaints/concerns with a sense of urgency to see to their resolution. * Attend to merchandising of plan-o-grams within seasonal departments, end caps, displays and basic inline departments as directed by the Store Manager and/or the Assistant Store Manager. * Control inventory by performing proper receiving and stocking including accurate cycle counting, processing merchandise transfers according to procedures, and reporting inventory problems to the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager. * Accountable for store cash and other financial assets, reconciling cash register drawers, preparing deposits, and ordering changes from the bank as directed by the Store Manager and/or the Assistant Store Manager. * Assist with the general maintenance and appearance of the store by ensuring a safe and pleasing environment for both customers and associates; respond to any unexpected emergencies to ensure the protection of company assets. * Oversee that store inventory is regularly inspected in accordance with the Product Freshness Review Schedule as directed by the Store Manager and/or the Assistant Store Manager. * Ensure that all outdated product and product with less than 30 days until expiration is removed from the sales floor to be processed through the established returns process. * Manage tasks and supervise store associates in those limited circumstances when the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager is unavailable. Supervisory Experience This position involves managing tasks and supervising store associates in those limited circumstances when the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager is unavailable. This position does not involve, hiring, firing, or disciplining associates or recommending any such action, which should be brought to the attention of the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager. * All duties described in this document are to be performed in keeping with the core values and service attributes consistent with the Rite Aid brand and strategy.
