  • Compute fiscal/financial transactions.

  • Reconcile transactions/accounts.

  • Classify and code fiscal/financial transactions.

  • Review to ensure compliance with required documentation, computations, codes, signatures, and rules/regulations.

  • Record fiscal/financial transactions to various financial information systems.

  • Interact with public/private sector to provide/obtain information.

  • Compile information/develop reports for use by others.

  • Monitor balances and report discrepancies.

  • Participate in recommending systems and forms enhancements.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Accounting Specialist

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  • Possession of an Associates degree or higher in Accounting or related field.

OR

  • Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Management, Computer Information Systems or related field.

OR

  • One year experience in processing financial transactions in areas such as accounting, auditing, payroll, or taxes.

  • One year experience in creating financial reports which includes combining and presenting financial data from multiple sources in an organized format.

  • One year experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.

  • Six months experience in determining compliance of financial transactions with required documentation, computations, codes, signatures, and rules/regulations.

Conditions of Hire

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization). The candidate selected for this position shall be asked to join and pay dues to the labor organization or may, decline joining the labor organization and not pay dues or a fee. The labor organization has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other work related purposes.

Job Description: Team Overview The Investment Accounting Group (IAG) provides accounting and regulatory data services to over 25 insurance clients (AUM of $285bn) who have outsourced their accounting function to BlackRock. Our Accounting Services include the preparation and oversight of monthly accounting packages and support schedules, including regulatory returns and statutory reporting. As well as working with clients to deliver our services, the IAG team also supports client changes through corporate and other developments which impact on our services. Also, IAG is currently embarked on an exciting program of work to develop our accounting operating platform and to extend asset class coverage. We are investing in new Aladdin technology and integrating this with PAM for Investments to develop an integrated accounting and risk platform and the industry-leading investment accounting provider. As our business has expanded we have a requirement for strong technical skills and knowledge to continue to extend our depth. We are currently recruiting for a Vice President with a broad knowledge of derivatives products. We are also looking for similar product knowledge related to bank loans, mortgage loans and alternatives. Job Purpose/Background The role reports to the Director, Accounting Data Management. This group is responsible for the integrity of all asset data utilized by internal and external clients for both portfolio trading and accounting-based reporting. The group ensures complete accurate and timely processing of asset security data and transaction data for the clients of BlackRock Solutions ("BRS") as it pertains to the BRS Investment Accounting Group and other businesses requiring trade management of externally managed assets. This includes, among other things, ensuring the accuracy of all terms and conditions of asset data pertaining to all known asset types, ensuring accurate market data, capturing trade file information for processing while creating a high level of straight through processing to our accounting system from Aladdin and external investment managers.
