Position Overview

As an Accounting Specialist Senior within PNC's Finance organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh PA, Philadelphia PA, Cleveland OH or Columbus OH.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Directs in the collection and interpretation of business requirements, and participates in the development and review of processes and procedures, workflow analytics, and reporting.

  • Develops and maintains of all applicable policy and procedure documentation.

  • Independently obtains and identifies the business requirements needed to carry out and improve applicable business processes.

  • Translates business needs, processes and/or procedures by partnering with applicable experts and business stakeholders to determine and articulate needs.

  • Drives the development, analysis and distribution of relevant reporting.

Business Functional Support :

  • Manage, oversee, and support Reconciliation and Account Certification processes across Finance and several Lines of Businesses

  • Support and develop reconciliations and account certifications using Fiserv's Frontier Reconciliation and Certification modules

  • Support reconciliations types that include Source to General Ledger, Source to Source system, and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to General Ledger

  • Identify and coordinate remediation efforts of source system data issues

  • Support quarterly testing and sign-off of source data enhancements and reconcilement process changes

  • Collect, review, and analyze data for completeness and accuracy from multiple sources including Teradata Database, PeopleSoft General Ledger, and OBIEE dashboards.

  • Escalate and coordinate resolution of production issues with our technology partners

  • Assist and support reconcilers and certifiers with their business and reconciliation tool questions

Job Description

  • Provides accounting, reporting and analytical expertise in support of a business function or business unit.

  • Provides specialized accounting, financial reporting, accounting research and control oversight for the company.

  • Creates accounting memoranda and various specialized reports for internal and external use.

  • Completes month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities related to foreign exchange, cash management and tax, and subsidiary regulatory reporting, including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities.

  • Supports and assists accounting staff in the development of their professional skills.

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles and the ability to apply them appropriately within the organization.

Internal Controls

  • Knowledge of and ability to create, implement, evaluate and enhance processes in internal controls.

Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance

  • Knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and ability to implement business processes required to ensure compliance with its tenets.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience. Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
