Job Purpose

The Accounting Specialist for Holiday Trucking will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks including updating financial record-keeping keeping, preparing reports, and reconciling various accounts.

Duties and Responsibilities/Payroll

  • Directly process transactional data such as coding AP, invoicing customers, initiating system interfaces, etc.

  • Monitor and reinforce accounting processes and internal controls.

  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.

  • Manage multiple communication channels between operations and financial team.

  • Validate data manually or through automation.

  • Review quality of financial input.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and enter invoices with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.

  • Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.

  • Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure all bills and payments are properly posted.

  • Verify and investigate discrepancies by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.

  • Audit vendor statements.

  • Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients

  • Generate reports detailing accounts payable status.

  • Understand expense accounts and cost centers.

  • Ensure all W-9 information is up to date for all vendors.

  • Other duties as required to achieve business objectives

Skills and Education Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in accounting or related field required

  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail

  • Previous experience in accounts payable or accounts receivable roles preferred.

  • Familiarity with accounting software and online platforms

  • Strong computer proficiency (Required)

  • Windows File Explorer (Files) - download, manipulate, organize, store, etc.

  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite or other related spreadsheet programs (Outlook, Excel, etc.).

  • Ability to learn new software quickly.

  • Working across multiple screens and open applications.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.

  • Ability to work independently or within a team.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Ability to interact effectively across all levels

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
