Four Twelve Roofing, an award-winning roofing company known for excellence and innovation, is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial in managing the financial operations of our growing business, and we seek an experienced professional who thrives in a collaborative, remote-friendly environment and has a solid understanding of accounting for the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage all accounts payable functions, including accurate coding, matching, and posting of invoices; process timely payments to vendors; monitor accounts receivable balances, ensuring timely collections and reconciliation.
• Month-End Close: Lead month-end close procedures, including reviewing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and preparing financial statements with precision and timeliness.
• Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts and company credit cards, identifying discrepancies, investigating and resolving them promptly.
• Budget Tracking & Analysis: Assist with budget management, including tracking project budgets, cost analysis, and providing monthly variance analysis reports to management.
• Job Costing: Manage job costing for each project, monitoring expenses, tracking costs by category, and working with project managers to provide financial oversight on ongoing projects.
• Payroll Processing Support: Support payroll processing as needed, ensuring accurate allocation of labor costs to projects.
• General Ledger Management: Oversee general ledger entries, maintain chart of accounts, and ensure compliance with GAAP standards and company policies.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare financial reports, statements, and documentation for both internal and external use, including assistance with year-end financial audits.
• Compliance & Process Improvement: Stay updated on industry standards and recommend process improvements in alignment with accounting best practices for construction businesses.
• Financial Reporting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and forecasts to guide company decisions.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting roles, ideally within small business, construction, or project-based accounting.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting software. Experience with construction management software is a plus.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including job costing, AIA billing, WIP reporting, and progress billings.
• Attention to Detail & Organizational Skills: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and record-keeping, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze financial information, identify trends, and solve problems independently.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work collaboratively with internal teams and vendors, especially in a remote setting.
