Provides accounting services and support to internal and external customers primarily in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Lease, the Corporate Credit Card Program, Tax, General Ledger and Account Reconciliations. The person in this position maintains effective accounting controls, resolves a wide variety of accounting issue; acquires, develops and maintains expertise in Association systems, policies and procedures; monitor for fraud prevention and compliance by analyzing reports and reconcilements; participate on departmental or association project teams; identify and escalate accounting issues to the Director of Corporate Accounting when necessary. Organizes and prioritizes work to meet processing deadlines.
SUPERVISES: Employee does not directly supervise other employees but instead coaches others as part of the team environment. The basic function requires coordinating the efforts of, and communicating with, members of the Financial Operation teams, senior management, Louisville office support leaders and retail leaders.
General Accounting and Reconciliation: Maintain effective accounting controls; report to management financial activity of the company; analyze and implement possible accounting solutions for discrepancies; process monthly accruals, amortization of expenses, submit adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary; assists in financial management and analysis, as requested assist with the day to day, monthly and year-end operations of the Corporate Accounting and Finance Team; provide support to Louisville office audits conducted by external auditors (Price Waterhouse-Coopers) and regulators (FCA) as needed; assist with the recommendation and implementation of departmental accounting systems and procedures;
Accounts Payable: Complete payments and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling association invoices and employee expenses; quality check processed work by verifying entries, verify appropriate approval/spend amounts to authorization; ledger accounts, costs centers and comparing system reports to balances; monitor discount opportunities; schedule and prepare checks; resolve invoice or payment discrepancies and documentation; administer corporate card program through issuance, limit changes, cancellation and monitoring for potential fraudulent transactions.
Accounts Receivable: Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, ach, wire and credit card transactions to loan or appropriate ledger account; prepare statements, reconcile and post revenues to appropriate ledger accounts in connection with appraisal invoices; crop insurance invoices, association shared expense invoices, etc.; track and resolve outstanding receivables and generate aging reports upon request;
Leasing: Determine the proper accounting treatment in accordance with (ASC 842) through analyzation of contracts pertaining to Lessor leases; work closely with internal and external auditors regarding the Company's accounting for leases, including acquisitions and dispositions; communicate necessary lease-related accounting adjustments to other groups and coordinate with other groups for a timely flow of information; perform ad-hoc projects and analysis to help support certain decisions, issues, and to assist in other group's goals and task; perform lease servicing actions and prepare accounting entries that involve complex calculations and transactions; audit complete lease transactions for completeness and accuracy; review and approve reconciliations; understand and implement process for both quantitative and qualitative disclosures under ASC842; understand and implement process for new revenue recognition (ASC606).
Tax: Provide support to Tax Analyst/ Sr Analyst through W-9 collections; maintaining IRS reportable transaction database and submission of adjusting journal entries to loan and Accounts Payable vendor accounts as needed; produce tax statements to vendors and customers and complete IRS cash reporting requirements;
Associate's Degree in accounting, finance or a related field or finance or two years of experience in accounting, banking or financially related customer support while using a variety of business software, demonstrating proficiency in Word and Excel, or Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or a related field plus one year of experience in accounting, banking or financially related customer support using a variety of business software, demonstrating proficiency in Word and Excel.
