Position Summary:
The Accounting Specialist 2 is expected to:
Verify and accept Passport Applications
Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner
Review and process student, agency and vendor accounts
Prepare billings, and process payments and refunds
Assist students and vendors with questions pertaining to their accounts
Establish and maintain confidential files
Perform in-house collection activities
Perform cashiering duties
Provide data and prepare financial reports and statements
Perform related duties of a similar nature or level
The primary work location for this position is East Campus, but may include working districtwide. The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends. Position is contingent on continued operations of the East Campus Passport Services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accepting passports for submission to the US Department of State
Providing a high level of customer service including polite and accurate responses to the passport application process
Exercising independent judgment and tact when explaining and applying the regulations, policies, and procedures of the Passport Process. Referring other questions to appropriate staff or department
Taking and processing photographs of applicant
Screening evidence of U. S. Citizenship documents
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and
One to three years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience and
Must be a United States citizen
Preferred:
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field of study
Three to five years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience

Applicable state and federal laws and regulations that apply to financial services and operation in a public organization
Financial information systems including cloud-based and Enterprise Resource Planning systems; Computers, including portable computing devices and applicable peripherals, operating systems and software
Application of new policies, processes and procedures to streamline workflow in complex organizations
Implementation of technological solutions to automate and streamline business processes
Openness to change and continuous process improvement
Implementing improvements to processes and procedures
Application of relevant laws and regulations as they apply to finance and financial services in a public institution
Managing change and handling sensitive topics
Preparing basic documents and reports
Analyzing complex situations
Effectively communicating technical or complex information in English, both orally and in writing
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with a broad range of constituents, to include the College community and the public
Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
The ability to de-escalate potential intense situations when guiding people through their application process
