The position has sole responsibility in the federal financial reporting of Michigan Behavioral Health Block grants. The position provides program expertise in establishing, revising, and implementing accounting procedures for each grant for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS); performs independent research and evaluation of program activities and transactions; and participates actively with the DHHS year-end closing activities.
This position will work closely with state program offices and federal agencies to be sure DHHS is meeting federal requirements; Have an in-depth knowledge of state and federal laws related to each grant and apply knowledge to the reconciliation and reporting of each grant. This position will be the point person during state and federal reviews for Michigan Behavioral Health Block grants, including other various grants of equal complexity.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.
Experience
Four years of professional experience performing or auditing the systematic classification and evaluation of accounting data and the preparation of related financial and managerial reports equivalent to an Accountant, including two years equivalent to an Accountant P11 or one year equivalent to an Accountant 12.
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certificate (CPA) may be substituted for one year of Accountant P11 experience.
OR
Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of Accountant P11 experience.
This position is located at 235 S. Grand Ave., Lansing, MI. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
