Summer Fun Program Coordinator
Overview:
The program coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the overall summer fun program and supervising all daily program activities as approved by the Principal at St. Mark School. He/she is responsible for communicating with parents, guardians, and other program staff during and after summer fun hours of operation. The Program Director is responsible for the care, safety, protection, and supervision of the Summer Fun Program environments, staff, volunteers, and participants. The planning, preparation, and organization of daily activities and site (set-up/clean-up), as well as all administrative duties of the program, are requirements of the program director. The program runs from June 24th
August 8th, with no program offered July 4th. The program Coordinator must be available to work from 8am
3pm with extended hours until 5:30pm.
Responsibilities:
Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Gives evidence of lived Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
Helps build the school's faith community by demonstrating a willingness to participate in/plan summer fun programs /religious activities.
Knowledge of program policies, rules, guidelines, general practices & procedures at St. Mark School
Oversees the development of the program, plans and implements all program activities, including weekly trips, special activities and/or assignments, with approval from the Principal.
Proposes Summer Fun Program expenditures for approval under an operating budget previously defined and agreed to by the Principal of St. Mark School, school bookkeeper, and business manager.
Works closely, cooperatively, and amicably with all staff members
Organizes/coordinates the program staff's weekly schedules
Produces forms, letters, and pertinent documents needed to implement the program.
Handles questions, problems, and concerns of parents/guardians before and during Summer Fun Programs.
Monitors and ensures appropriate participant behavior and adherence to program rules and regulations.
Establishes a procedure for handling all difficulties related to health, behavior, and other problems and reports incidents to the Principal of St. Mark School
Handles emergencies with the other program coordinator and reports them to the Principal of St. Mark School.
Seeks advice and/or assistance from the principal when needed.
Plans the weekly schedule of program activities with staff
Assign games and activities to the program staff.
Check ID at sign-in/sign-out.
Collects time sheets from staff and reviews to ensure they are completed correctly.
Submit program staff timesheets to the school bookkeeper.
Ensure enough program staff (1:10 ratio) with a minimum of two staff members at any one time.
Fill out all injury and accident reports for every incident promptly. Communicate injury and accident reports to the Principal.
Taking care of all injuries, including first aid
Distribute medication to participants and complete the medication log accordingly.
Make sure parents sign incident report forms each day.

Qualifications
Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing
Strong team experience and organizational and problem-solving skills
Good communication skills.
Must be willing to work flexible hours.
Must be creative, imaginative, and energetic
First aid/CPR training
Demonstrable experience as a coordinator managing similarly structured programs
Extensive experience in planning and developing program curricula and modifying activities when required
Extensive experience in working with children and arranging program accommodations, meals, supplies, and equipment
VIRTUS trained
Ability to manage budgets and monitor expenses
In-depth knowledge of activity-related safety regulations, as well as health and sanitation requirements
Ability to document processes and perform recordkeeping
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
