Robert Half has teamed up with a HOTEL REIT to assist in the recruitment of an Accounting Operations Manager. The role will oversee the review of 3rd party property management reporting for a large number of hospitality properties. Pay is competitive and the company pays for all benefits. Position Description Working with hospitality asset management and third-party property managers, the accounting operations manager has oversight of property accounting and management reporting for a portfolio of over 200+ hotels. The position will advise asset management and senior accounting management on identified issues and assist in their resolution. Accordingly, the position will have minimal involvement in transaction accounting and processing but instead will focus in a manager role on the proper application of hotel operating GAAP and compliance of third-party managers under their respective agreements. Responsibilities ? Review operating statements and balance sheets prepared by third-party managers for compliance with GAAP, budget to actual variances and other unusual activity. ? Participate with asset management and FP A in operational review meetings. ? Specific account reviews include o Lease revenue o Operating lessee accounting o Property taxes o Insurance o Casualty losses, involuntary conversions o Payroll o Gross operating margins ? Review third party management fees (franchise, reservation, management, etc.) and expense reimbursements for compliance with underlying agreements. ? Identify non-recurring items for adjustments to EBITDA and other REIT non-GAAP performance measurements. ? Review operating budgets and re-forecasts with asset management. ? Coordinate with external auditors and SOX review. Qualifications ? 3+ years of public accounting with a national firm or 7 years of real estate industry or comparable experience. ? Supervisory experience. ? Property management, lodging and real estate accounting experience a plus. ? CPA a plus. ? Hotel, real estate and/or REIT experience a plus. ? Detailed, goal-oriented self-starter, who can work independently. ? Good communication skills, who can work with different functional group (asset management, third party management, accounting). ? Proficient excel, word and powerpoint skills (advanced levels with ability to extract data are a plus). ? Flexibility to work in a small sized accounting department. Requirements

  • Recent relevant financial experience

  • Proven technical skills

  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable

  • Comprehensive knowledge of real estate project accounting

  • Exceptional communication skills that provide the ability to interact with all levels of the organization with a high customer service orientation

  • Active problem-solver who listens for customer cues and actively resolves problems with grace and integrity

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience
