Job Summary

Job Summary:

This position acts as the lead to manage and coordinate the department's daily activities of the accounts receivable and bank deposit functions, such as reconciling daily deposits, calculating appropriation transfers, preparing invoices and preparing reports and financial statements as required. This position also processes insurance-related payments associated with the Statewide Employee Group Insurance Program (SEGIP) and serves as a back up to the accounts payable and budgetary functions within the department's fiscal unit.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance.

  • Minimum of two years of professional-level accounting experience, with at least one year of experience as a lead worker.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAA) sufficient to effectively communicate established accounting procedures and ensure adherence to principles and standards in work.

  • Knowledge of the State of Minnesota's Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) system or Statewide Employee Management Administration (SEMA4) system or a comparable, large complex automated accounting system.

  • Knowledge of Minnesota Statutes, policies and procedures pertaining to financial services.

  • Experience, training or education sufficient to assist customers in development, management and maintenance of their budgets or financial transactions.

  • Organization skills sufficient to manage multiple tasks to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner and tasks are prioritized appropriately.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills sufficient to effectively provide fiscal leadership and consultation to both large and small customer divisions and agencies.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Excel or comparable software to develop and run reports, in addition to other business applications such as MS Outlook and MS Word.

  • Ability to establish and set priorities for self and lead others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience with SWIFT.

  • Two or more years of experience with SEMA4.

  • Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) or other reporting tool.
