Accounting Manager

Main Function:

This position reports to the Senior Director, Finance - Centralized Accounting and is primarily responsible for managing day to day and month end close processes which includes working with our BPO provider accountants. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing financial/analytical support to Finance and Operational leadership across the assigned entities within the respective region of the American Group. This position will assist the Sr. Directors and RBODs with financial operations, monthly analytical reviews, identification of areas for improvement and the maintenance of a proper internal control environment for the respective region of the American Group. Much of the day to day tasks circle around managing our accounting relationship with our BPO provider which includes but is not limited to; accurate journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations, achievement of due dates, demonstrating leadership capabilities and mentorship with our BPO team.


  • Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration

  • Extensive knowledge of financial/accounting principles and procedures

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Regular attendance habits

  • Has initiative, resourcefulness, analytical ability, problem solving skills, and can deal effectively and harmoniously with all groups and individuals

  • Must be able to communicate articulately, comprehend written and verbal communications; and must be able to function efficiently in a stressful work environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work non-standard hours, as necessary

  • Ability to handle multiple projects in parallel with one another, including during deadline periods

  • Ability to travel as needed with expectation that travel will be < />

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting support for up to 3 facilities of varying complexity, including all SOX control monitoring and explanations for monthly operations reviews

  • Act as key point of contact for managing coordination of implemented Blackline solution modules (Task Manager, Balance Sheet reconciliations, Journal Entry preparation, etc.) for the respective region of the American Group

  • Monthly audit testing for Journal Entry and Balance Sheet reconciliation completeness and accuracy

  • Regional SME for monthly net revenue proofs, supply implant tie outs, escheatment processes (RBOD and corporate AP partnership), credit balance AR review and other tasks as defined by management

  • Identify and communicate potential areas of opportunity from an automation or optimization perspective to Centralized Accounting leadership team

  • Involvement in month end processes associated with new acquisition activity and our Corporate finance integration team

  • Performs special project assignments or other duties as assigned by Centralized Accounting leadership team

This role will include technically supporting the cost accounting platform and completing validation and reconciliation activities to ensure the data is complete and accurate. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for both writing necessary reports within the application upon request, and for analyzing the report results in order to identify trends and relevant information associated with the data.
