Located at A.O. Smith World Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI, the Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the corporate accounting and consolidated financial reporting processes and also participates in forecasting and planning duties. The Corporate Accounting Manager will enhance and maintain the processes in the general accounting function, ensure GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and manage the performance of the accounting staff.
Consolidate monthly financial records and prepare financial statements.
Preparation of quarterly and annual SEC financial filings.
Responsible for accurate and timely completion of the month-end close process.
Collaborate with members of the accounting team company-wide to ensure compliance to US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.
Prepare forecast for corporate headquarters and other non-operating entities.
Involvement in consolidated forecasting and planning.
Compile and review annual corporate departmental budgets.
Ensure consistent, reliable, and timely information is distributed to all financial statement users.
Directly supervise and manage employees in the accounting function by directing, allocating, and assigning priority to functions and projects.
Conduct staff performance appraisals, provide guidance, and train direct subordinates.
Prepare and post journal entries for complex areas.
Controller of the corporate headquarters general ledger.
BPC system administrator for consolidation software.
Leads engagement with internal and external audit teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of all audit requirements.
Lead process improvement, transition, and implementations within the accounting and financial reporting function.
Develop plans and resources to meet accounting and financial reporting objectives.
Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of all accounting policies, financial systems, processes, and controls.
Continually evaluate the departmental functions, practices, and controls to identify opportunities for improvement.
Leads and assists in analysis of special projects and performs ad-hoc requests as necessary.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's Degree in Accounting or CPA strongly preferred
Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience, including supervisory experience
Working knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley rules and regulations
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, to explain difficult and financial concepts
Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to adapt work priorities
Ability to work independently and lead a team to achieve performance goals
Ability to balance multiple priorities and delegate tasks
