Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager Requisition Number: 2024-2910-08 Are you an experienced accountant seeking a challenging opportunity with an employee-owned firm that can offer a great work-life balance and career growth? S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Accounting Manager to join our Corporate Finance team based in our Headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina . You'll be joining a very collaborative and supportive team with a hybrid schedule working in the office 3 days a week and reporting to our Controller.

About the Role: As an Accounting Manager , the role is designed for an experienced individual to manage a broad range of accounting functions in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), such as: General Accounting:

Responsible for conducting account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, managing general ledger accruals, and overseeing period-end and month-end close processes. Financial Reporting & Analysis: Includes preparing financial reports, providing technical advice during annual budget planning, and contributing to financial reporting, analysis, and projections.

Tax & Compliance: Involves filing sales and use tax returns, assisting in the preparation of annual property and income tax returns, and ensuring year-end compliance for ESOP and 401k plans. Asset & Cash Management:

Tasks include managing fixed assets and lease schedules, performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring and forecasting cash flow, and maintaining stock schedules. Budgeting & Strategic Planning: Supports the annual budgeting process, evaluates potential acquisitions, and provides financial support and training to team members.

Audit & Process Improvement: Responsible for supporting audits, reviewing and improving processes and internal controls, and developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures. Leadership & Communication:

Includes preparing materials for board meetings, addressing discrepancies with senior management, and driving results to align with the company's strategic goals. About You: You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred You have a minimum of 8 years of accounting experience with at least four (4) years experience in a supervisory or managerial role You have experience in an Architecture/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry or other professional services, a plus You have a CPA or CMA, highly preferred You have experience with FAR Compliance, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) knowledge, and experience with Subcontractor payables You are proficient in Microsoft Office and financial software programs, can perform 10-key by touch with high accuracy, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and commit to organization and highly detail-oriented work About S&ME:
