A proficient Accounting Manager who is focused on getting results is needed for immediate hire with a supportive software company. In charge of daily operations, the Accounting Manager handles ledger entries and reconciliations, the general ledger system, financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, regulatory reporting, and additional duties as required. Establishing and scaling the accounting and finance operations of the company will preferably be managed by this role. Offered on a short term temporary employment basis, this opening is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a company that values its employees efforts. This position is based in Chicago, Illinois. Major responsibilities Collaborate with FP A and accounting management to deliver relevant and timely reporting of financial data analytics, including monthly flash report, key financial metrics and actual spend against budgets/outlook Drive and manage the full accounting team performance of the close process to meet tight deadlines Assist in the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including document preparation, data analysis, integrity validation and reconciliation processes Regular review and analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts Prepare various technical accounting analyses, policies and procedures


  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Solid technology and analytical abilities

  • Recent relevant financial experience

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Knowledge of US GAAP

  • SOX experience

  • Solid understanding of account reconciliation

  • Foundational knowledge in journal entries

  • Deep understanding of month end closings

  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable

  • Exceptional communication skills that provide the ability to interact with all levels of the organization with a high customer service orientation

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience

The Construction Accounting Manager is the primary accounting liaison for project managers and other operations staff. This position reports to the CEO and has significant exposure to and oversight by our CPA firm.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul> <li>Full cycle accounting and clerical support for assigned projects in areas such as project/contract setup, billing, accounts payable, job costing, labor distribution, project close-out etc.</li> <li>Organize and maintain project-related accounting files and records</li> <li>Close coordination with and support for project managers, project engineers and project administrators in their management of assigned projects</li> <li>Possess the ability to prepare work in process schedules and work with project managers to ensure that the information is properly stated</li> <li>Prepare and distribute monthly and ad hoc project financial reporting</li> <li>Review and process subcontractor pay applications, including monitoring compliance with contract terms, change orders, lien releases, insurance requirements etc.</li> <li>Process expense reports, purchasing cards and other general corporate transactions</li> <li>General ledger accounting responsibilities including journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis and monthly reporting</li> <li>Prepare cost-to-complete and milestone completion reporting for major projects and work with accounting to initiate invoicing with appropriate documentation</li> <li>Assist in management of contract compliance and change order management</li> <li>Provide cash flow projections</li> <li>Assist in the collection of accounts receivables</li> <li>Provide support for project and corporate audits</li> <li>Provide support for payroll processing and other corporate accounting functions</li> <li>Research and resolve questions or issues involving assigned projects </li> <li>Assist management with project and/or accounting related questions</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance</li> <li>Minimum 5 years’ construction industry accounting experience or equivalent relevant experience in other industries</li> <li>Post-secondary education in accounting or related field is a strong plus.
