The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on, results driven Accounting Manager to be a key leader in our rapidly growing Finance organization. The Accounting Manager will oversee all North America and Corporate accounting functions as well as manage the North America month-end financial close process for Rapid7. This position will report into the Assistant Controller and will lead an expanding team of Accountants and Senior Accountants. The Accounting Manager must be a proven leader with the ability to develop and manage a team while collaborating cross-functionally. The ideal candidate needs to be a team player and possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, exciting, and collaborative environment.

In this role you will:

  • Manage the North America and Corporate accounting functions and month-end financial close process, including operation of the general ledger ERP (Netsuite) while maintaining effective internal controls and SOX requirements.

  • Review journal entries as well as prepare and review account balance reconciliations

  • Review and thoughtfully analyze P&L and balance sheet account fluctuations and trends

  • Manage the North America Accounting team, set goals and develop career development plans aligning team and individual goals with the goals of the organization

  • Partner with finance leadership in the development and enhancement of a best-in-class financial close process through use of automation as well as developing scalable and efficient processes

  • Work closely on month-end analysis and creation of financial reporting to provide meaningful insights to finance and operational management

  • Participate in the ongoing development of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes

  • Partner with external and internal auditors to ensure timely completion of audit requests

  • Support the SEC Reporting, Tax and FP&A teams with quarterly and ad hoc reporting used in the preparation of internal reporting, quarterly financial statements, tax provisions and related filings

In return you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • 6 or more years of progressive accounting experience in a publicly-traded company environment, with at least 2 of the years in a management position

  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of current US GAAP

  • Ability to lead and develop a team and manage people

  • Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, planning and organizational skills

Nice to Have

  • CPA or MBA

  • Public Accounting experience

  • Experience with Netsuite, Floqast, and Tableau

  • Saas / Software industry experience a plus

For more information, please contact NEC Human Resources. JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager attends to the daily financial operations of the Conservatory. Position duties include, but are not limited to, oversight of the major outward facing services of the Business Office: payroll, payables, and accounts receivable. In addition, responsibilities include preparing journal entries and audit reconciliations for additional assigned accounts, preparing tax returns, and assisting with preparation of statutory reports. This individual reports to the Associate Vice President for Finance & Controller. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Provide support and supervision to the Payroll Administrator and the Accounts Receivables Accountant. * Prepare and input monthly journal entries and approvals for applicable areas. * Reconcile tuition payment plan payments and third-party payments with accounts receivable and the general ledger. * Update and manage application of automated College billing rules. * Work with the Financial Aid Office to oversee records for international student employees with respect to their eligibility to receive payments from NEC. * Manage the Sprintax web-based platform and file tax withheld to the IRS in a timely manner. * Consult on required tax withholdings for international student payments and guest artist payments processed through accounts payable. * Process ACH and wire transmission payables transactions. * Lead the 403(b)-retirement plan audit, including coordinating with the auditing firm team and NEC's Human Resources staff, and draft the corresponding return with financial statements and notes. * Complete statutory tax filings including 1098-T, 1042, and 1042-S, and coordinate submissions with Controller and external tax professionals. * Reconcile W-2s and quarterly 941s for all NEC employees. * Reconcile College student health insurance billing each semester. * Maintain student meal program declining balance with NEC's ID card vendor. * Administer the Transact mobile app billing for a variety of payments across campus. * Oversee maintenance of monthly and year-end reconciliations for a variety of accounts. * Compile information including workpapers and notes for annual financial statement audit related to primary responsibilities. * Contribute to other department projects and initiatives as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; MS, MBA, or CPA preferred. * Minimum of three years of experience in public accounting or working with computerized general ledger systems. * Payroll processing experience; ADP experience preferred. * Prior experience with accounting software required; knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge software preferred. * Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel, and aptitude for learning knew software; Google Suite experience preferred. * Willingness to use a personal cell phone for multifactor authentication and systems access. * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills; High level of attention to detail required. * Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. * Understanding of and commitment to NEC's values of cultural equity and belonging.
