Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to those transitioning from or at risk of homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. Additionally, we implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veteran services, and health care sectors.

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is an integral part of our growing Finance team. This position will have responsibility for all aspects of property accounting (real estate development and property management) and is the primary accounting liaison to the Housing Development and Management teams, co-managing monthly closings, and supervising accounting staff. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, a problem-solver, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Managing of development cash accounts, acquisition closings, development draws, payables, and project/budget reconciliations
  • Assist and manage the process to develop program and organization budgets
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the accounting systems, policies and procedures
  • Compile, analyze and report accounting data for management reports and decision-making purposes
  • May act as primary liaison with outside auditors and government agencies on contract issues
  • Manage and perform other various accounting activities
  • Collaborate with the other Accounting Managers on managing monthly closings and supervising accounting staff
  • Other duties to be assigned

Location: California (prefer Los Angeles or San Francisco Area), position is primarily remote with occasional in-office requirements

Pay Range : $100,000 annually/exempt

COVID-19 Vaccine: Must have received or be willing to receive the Covid-19 vaccination by the date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in property accounting (real estate development and property management)
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to Tax Credit and other affordable housing programs
  • Previous management or supervisorial experience
  • Experience with Sage Intacct and Adaptive Insights preferred
  • Strong computer and math skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work with time sensitive material and meet multiple deadlines
  • High attention to detail and effective prioritization skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance, preferred but not required
