(or less) & Work Hybrid or Remote (Soon After Starting)Company InformationNavigator Recruiting client is a reputable $8-10M sixty-year-old Denver scrap metal recycling company now owned and managed by the granddaughter of the gentleman who started the business. The prior Accounting Manager worked for this company for 17 years and just retired. The Owner is seeking someone who is experienced with QuickBooks Desktop and ideally has some experience with inventory management and payroll processing in QuickBooks Desktop to be responsible for overseeing all accounting and payroll for the company. There are no other employees in accounting. The position would not be responsible for managing anyone. This is a hands-on accounting role reporting directly to the Owner and the role could be done remotely or in a hybrid format, once the role is understood. The Owner is very flexible. Benefits include the 100% reimbursement of a medical insurance plan, a 401k w/3% match (1 year eligibility to participate), 2 weeks' vacation (accrued) in Year 1, holidays and the ability to work from home or in a hybrid arrangement once the job is understood (within a few months, perhaps). Work hours are 8:00 am- 4:30 pm Mon.- Fri. with a 1-hour lunch.Responsibilities
  • Full-Charge Accounting / Bookkeeping, including monthly financial statement preparation, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Weekly payroll processing for 12 salaried and hourly employeess.
  • Other duties may include:
    • Human Resources, insurance, vendor/contract management, office management (overseeing the office when the Owner is out), and assisting the Owner in developing business strategies and methods of execution. 
  • The ideal candidate will be a high-level independent thinker who thrives in the small business environment.
Requirements
  • BS in Accounting
  • Advanced degree and/or CPA license helpful
  • 3+ years' experience general accounting experience (journal entries, preparing monthly financial statements) 
  • Proficient in Quickbooks Desktop and MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Soome payroll processing experience 
  • Inventory management experience is helpful (or that someone is capable of learning this)
  • Any experience in Human Resources, insurance management, vendor/contract management and office management is helpful
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Accurate and detail oriented as well as “big picture” oriented
  • Highly proactive, results oriented and deadline driven
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Gets along well with other team members and has a keen awareness of customer service to everyone.
