Position Summary:

Responsible for facilitating several manufacturing finance processes and leading continuous improvement and supply chain projects. Primary point of contact for manufacturing leadership team for many General Office finance issues. Also primary point of contact for accounting centers and Information Technology (IT) group for many plant system and financial issues. Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage G.O. Manufacturing accounting including budget preparation, weekly estimates, research and capital project reviews.

  • Group 700 financial statement oversight and maintenance.

  • Establish and route new accounts, page, line, department changes.

  • Employ Cost Accounting methodology, providing plant guidance and training as needed.

  • Oversee Full Absorption cost accounting and Last In-First Out (LIFO) accounting.

  • Generate reports related to closing processes (such as working capital).

  • In a timely manner, address special requests such as business interruption, Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) reporting and Census reporting.

  • Work with plant and accounting centers to strengthen internal controls (period end control reports & follow up).

  • Lead efforts on facets of major projects such as warehouse conversion or new plant set-up.

  • Assist in resolving Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) allocation issues including Property Operating Income (POI), reallocation and allocation.

  • Serve as plant liaison with Manufacturing Information Technology (IT) on multiple issues/systems.

  • Serve as business liaison for major conversion projects, such as computer systems conversions.

  • Serve on Peer Audit Committee and lead effort with group controller sponsorship.

  • Develop and maintain Policy.

  • Serve as liaison with Regional Accounting Service Center (RASC) and Kroger Accounting Services Hutchinson (KASH) for manufacturing issues, such as cost database maintenance or plant issues.

  • Assist Finance Director Manufacturing Finance continuous improvement projects.

  • Work with department managers to explain financial results, answer questions and identify cost savings opportunities.

  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance.

  • Minimum three years of experience.

  • Ability to travel independently as needed.

Desired Previous Job Experience

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification and/or Master of Business Administration degree.

  • Previous Accounting/Finance related positions.

  • Prior Kroger division or General Office department experience.

  • Effective presentation skills.

  • Sound conflict management skills.

  • Able to generate and explore alternative solutions to achieve mutually agreeable solutions to challenging situations.
