Who we are looking for:

We are searching for a dedicated Accounting Manager who is positioned to deliver expertise to the Shared Services sectors while executing initiatives that support the strategic direction of the organization. This role will lead and develop an internal team to support internal stakeholders. We look for this role to utilize leadership, decision-making and analytical skills to create and promote an environment where employees are engaged, empowered and committed to a team that delivers quality and timely results.

What you'll take ownership of:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. Maintain complete, accurate, and systematic accounting records. Monitor and respond to daily email inquiries for all entities.

  • Responsible for ensuring all transactions and financial policies meet federal regulations and standards as well as GAAP, with oversight from CFO.

  • Provide primary review and approval of all staff-initiated wires and ACH disbursements.

  • Primary lead on treasury management functions including Admin interface and management of daily working capital needs.

  • Responsible for coaching and developing direct reports; responsible for completing and/or approving all performance evaluations, corrective actions, schedules, and administrative tasks for department.

  • Serve as Admin for corporate credit card account(s) and related vendor system; manage additions, deletions, changes, credit limits, fraud activity and dispute resolution on behalf of organization.

  • Responsible for investment administration and related month end close out process, including analysis and related reporting.

  • Provide periodic and year-end audit assistance for multiple entities; provide periodic and year-end tax assistance for multiple entities.

  • Complete required lending, treasury management, insurance, stakeholder and/or Board reports as needed.

  • Primary lead for managing estimated tax payments and actual tax payments for all jurisdictions. Federal, state, and local.

  • Primary lead for SAGE accounting information system, including technical problem resolution, organizational/user training, user functionality and coordination with the IT Department to resolve any technical integration deficiencies.

  • Manage month end close out process, for multiple entities.

  • Review multiple monthly bank reconciliations for all entities.

  • Review Payroll and make payroll entries.

  • Review and manage actual and proposed month end journal entries for multiple entities, including recurring transactions, inter-company, accruals, deferrals, taxes, allocations and corrections.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, including special projects.

Need to Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related business area required.

  • Five (5) years' experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within finance, accounting or related environment.

  • Proven experience dealing with sensitive high-level financial information, including payroll and retirement benefit information, as well as Board and member information.

  • Proven experience with accounting information systems.

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Office environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Proven time management skills. Ability to work in fast paced collaborative and customer service-oriented environment.

  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively.

  • Two (2) years' supervisor experience.

  • Knowledge of Sage

  • Knowledge and understanding of history, development, and philosophy of credit union movement preferred.

Minimal travel required. Valid driver's license is required
