Jefferson Consulting Group is seeking an Accounting Manager to support the critical leadership, coaching and development of the accounting team.
The Accounting Manager will oversee accounts payable and payroll functions. This position reports to the VP of Finance & Accounting. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with relevant regulations, maintain accurate financial records, and manage a high-performing team. Proficiency in JAMIS software or equivalent, along with experience in government contracts, GAAP, and DCAA compliance.
This role will be remote.
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$118,000.00. The annual salary range is negotiable. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and train the accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Conduct performance reviews, set team objectives and manage day-to-day team operations.
- Accounts Payable Management: Oversee accounts payable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments, and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Payroll Oversight: Supervise payroll functions, ensuring accurate processing and adherence to federal regulations and company policies.
- Review and Compliance: Review accounting activities, transactions, and reconciliations; ensure accuracy and compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, as well as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Review and approve final documents and transactions, identify discrepancies, and initiate and/or implement corrective actions to resolve discrepancies and correct errors.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing accounting processes and internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Audit Coordination: Assist in the preparation for audits and ensure all documentation is in order to support compliance with government contracting requirements, including DCAA standards.
- Budgeting: Assist with preparation of annual operating budget
- Tax Compliance and Reporting: Assist with the preparation of all tax filings. Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors for tax-related matters. Provide tax impact assessments for strategic decisions.
- Special Projects and Analysis: Support ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects including due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, integration of new business units, and investment evaluations.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Government contracting (GovCon) accounting, with at least 2 years in management role
- Must have experience with government contracts, GAAP, and DCAA compliance.
- Experience with JAMIS software or equivalent is required
- Experience with UKG preferred
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
