Essential Job Functions

  • Supervise the Monthly Closing- Supervise the closing process to ensure that books are closed accurately and timely.
  • Prepare Journal Entries- Complete journal entries and review for proper coding, completeness, and accuracy prior to submitting.
  • Review Balance Sheet Reconciliations- Review balance sheet reconciliations on non-quarter-end periods.
  • Budgets and Forecasting- Assist the Finance Director with development of budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage the Accounting Team- Responsible for maintaining company standards, communicating and enforcing policies and procedures. Provide guidance and the tools to the accounting team to allow them to complete their jobs efficiently.
  • Staff Development/Training- Work with accounting staff and accounting manager to identify and standardize best practices in all facets of their work. Develop cross training of staff. Complete annual employee reviews, prepare and monitor employee goals.
  • Establish and Maintain Controls & Procedures- Ensure internal controls over financial reporting are designed, documented, and complied with.Prevent significant deficiencies and material weaknesses in the design or operation of internal controls.
  • Protect Company Assets- Ensure controls are designed and operating to protect the Company's assets. Provide information to the business operations that help make value added decisions. This includes reviewing contracts, providing cost benefit analysis and variation analysis.
  • Manage the Audit Functions- Manage the timing, document requirements and testing requirements with the internal and external audit teams.
  • Communicate Effectively- Communicate effectively within the company's departments including the business units, safety and compliance, information technology and all corporate departments. Professional representation of the Company with its vendors, bankers, lawyers, auditors, and competitors is also a requirement.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Accounting degree.
  • Minimum five years' relevant experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Proficient with PC software packages such as MS Excel and MS Word.

Salary Range: $80,000-93,000 /year base salary + bonus
