Accounting Manager

Lead our finance and accounting operations as our Accounting Manager.

Accounting Manager – Your Job Duties

You will lead the organization’s finance and accounting operations.

• Engage directly in all aspects of accounting while also reviewing the work of and mentoring the Accounting Coordinator (working as a team of 2)
• Prepare and review monthly financial statement package including performance of account reconciliations and preparing board reporting package
• Attend quarterly board of directors meeting to present and answer questions regarding the financial statements and financial reporting
• Account for entitlement funds, including budgeting and financial reporting requirements by program
• Review payroll and ensure accuracy – payroll is very complex and includes very specific regulations and complex and detailed wage and hour reporting!
• Implement ongoing process improvements in the finance and accounting department
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal terms and conditions, including timely submission of reports and financial documentation
• Coordinate with external CPA and auditors for the annual financial audit

Accounting Manager - Required Skills, Experience & Culture Fit

• You enjoy being hands on in the day-to-day operations of the finance department
• You have strong general ledger accounting experience and skills – GAAP accounting, month end close and financial statement preparation
• You are a critical thinker, problem solver and bringer of solutions
• You are able to work 100% in office in West Sacramento daily Monday – Friday

Accounting Manager– You Might Have (Not Required)

• Prior experience working in not-for-profit accounting / prior experience with fund accounting
• Experience with M&A (mergers and acquisitions) including evaluating and assisting with M&A transactions
• Prior experience performing or overseeing very complex payroll reporting / wage and hour law
• Familiarity with MIP, Abila, or Sage non-profit accounting software
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
