POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager functions as the day to day accountant for a business unit, supporting the Associate Director (Controller) within the Controller's Group.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the monthly close of a business unit, including the accurate preparation of the balance sheet, income statement and trial balance

  • Prepare and/or review monthly analysis and reconciliations of key financial accounts on a timely basis

  • Supervise and mentor Senior and/or Staff Accountants

  • Prepare and/or review monthly journal entries prepared by team (standards, accruals)

  • Identify and investigate fluctuations in financial information, working with business unit personnel as needed

  • Research unusual transactions, bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of the team leader and management as required

  • Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures to maintain compliance with section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act

  • Assist in the submission of financial information to parent company via consolidation software (SAP / Cartesis)

  • Participate in both external and internal annual audits of respective business unit

  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Accounting

  • 4-6 years of combined public and/or private accounting experience

  • Strong technical and analytical skills

  • Detail oriented with the ability to investigate and resolve problems

  • Good planning and communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a high performing team

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with Microsoft AX, Perceptive, SAP / Cartesis, Donovan Data Systems / Mediaocean a plus

Cinedigm is looking for a Temporary Accounting Manager to work with our Finance and Accounting team in our New York office through the end of this year. Key Duties: * Prepare and enter journal entries (monthly recurring journal entries, revenue and expenses accruals (Universal, digital transactions, third party, etc.) * SOX Compliancy –related to GL functions and processing requirements * Reconciliation processes – ledger, bank, and third party reporting * Maintain reconciliation and month-end close documentation in desired formats * Perform account analysis and complex account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies. * Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities. * Ensure all transactions are accounted for in accordance with US GAAP. * Assist in the preparation of monthly bank reporting package. * Support variance analysis and other ad-hoc financial reports as needed. * Interact with accounting management regarding corporate financial matters * Provide support for quarterly SOX and Financial Audits Minimum Requirements: * Minimum 5+ years of progressive general accounting experience. * Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills. * Strong communication skills with supervisors and any other department/individuals the position interfaces with. * Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ensuring all deadlines are met in a timely fashion. * Ability to provide proper documentation to pass SOX and external audit on all journal entries. * Knowledge and thorough understanding of US GAAP. * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (use of complex formulas outside of VLookups/Pivots) with intermediate-level experience using other applications with the MS Office Suite. * Knowledge of Great Plains or a similar ERP application. * Public accounting experience is a plus. * Bachelor's degree in Accounting\Finance preferred.
