Accounting Manager

The Manager of Accounting will provide oversight of all administrative and financial aspects of highly sophisticated Family Office clients. He/she will play a lead role in the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping of financial transactions, including periodic preparation, analysis & reporting of the financials to the clients. In this role, this person will manage and oversee a team of accounting professionals who support and deliver CFO services to the clients.

The CFO services group provides its clients with: accounting/bookkeeping, HR and Payroll support, management over insurance, properties, fixed assets and philanthropic activities. The Manager will coordinate client team activities and ensure delivery of all CFO services to their clients, timely and accurately.

The role will also include (i) managing engagement economics of client accounts such as creating budgets, reviewing WIPs, and measuring success by achievement of target utilization and realization goals; and (ii) involvement in internal firm projects and steering committees that focus on enhancements to infrastructure.

This individual will have to embrace change with a great ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment focusing on the day to day activities proactively. The Manager should be able to identify needs and propose solutions to successfully complete projects on time with tremendous collaboration and time constraints. They must also enjoy problem solving and the generation of brand new ideas that drive efficiency and opportunity for the client.

Your Impact:

  • Supervising and developing 2-4 Senior Accountants and 4-6 Accounting Associates

  • Organizing and managing several client service teams and engagements; including creating team budgets, assigning roles and responsibilities, setting team goals, monitoring team utilization, managing client billing

  • Training and developing junior professionals; reviewing work-papers, prioritizing activities, assisting with individual goal-setting and completing performance reviews

  • Ensuring client deliverables are met timely and accurately by the engagement team; report progress and escalating issues to upper management

  • Interacting daily with multiple high net worth clients and various service providers

  • Reviewing personal and/or business financial statements and supporting schedules for clients on a cash basis or US GAAP basis, (as applicable)

  • Managing cash flow and requirements as a fiduciary for client accounts to ensure client's financial obligations are met

  • Understanding complex accounting issues and solving for client needs

  • Ensuring team adherence with firm policies, maintaining strong control environment, identifying areas for process improvements to maximize efficiencies and minimize risk

  • Facilitating cross functional communications and cohesion with investment, tax and financial planning teams both in-house and externally

  • Developing strategies for improving client services

  • Proactively managing ad-hoc client requests

What You'll offer:

  • Accounting Degree (Undergraduate or Graduate) and a CPA license

  • 5-6 years accounting experience required

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, Filters), Word and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing and developing professional staff

  • Demonstrated experience in client service industry

  • Project management and quality control experience

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Solution oriented approach to work performance

  • Meticulous attention to detail (thorough and accurate)

  • Exceptional self-management skills: organization, time management, prioritization and analytical skills

We'd love to see:

  • Public accounting experience; Big 4 firm experience

  • Process and control oriented with focus on optimizing operational efficiencies; PMP or Six Sigma Certification

  • Experience working in client service industry, with exposure to serving high net worth individuals/families

  • Experience in project management and technology/system implementations

  • Experience in MS Dynamics, NetSuite, and SalesForce

The base salary range for this position is:

$120,000 - $140,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits as well as the potential for an annual bonus consideration.
