To ensure accurate reporting of financial results, forecast and planning to HMG Corporate.
Provide meaningful management information and support to non-financial departments.
Assist Finance Director with finance deliverables and provide finance staff supervision.
Scope: To ensure compliance of all HMG policies, to provide support for financial and operational management for the local property.
This position will provide financial reporting information to management and support for operational departments.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for: Work closely with ASC and FSC support staff to ensure timely and accurate financial transaction processing.
Provide input to the monthend close process, including variance analysis.
Provide FP&A support as assigned to the Finance Director.
Provide financial and operational reporting support to the local operation departments.
Work closely with local sales executives and FSC to assist with the management of advertising and commercial print collections.
Review and provide approval for expense disbursements, including: local Purchasing Card statements, T&E reports, payroll submissions and final voucher/AP invoice approval.
Manage Inter and Intra-Unit costing allocation methodologies.
Circulation Accounting function oversight; including analysis of carrier subsidies, performing annual carrier audits, contract pricing reviews & approvals and offer guidance.
Review commercial print customer/job profitability.
Approve pricing agreements.
Finance staff supervision.
Mentor and develop local finance staff.
Assist with annual plan and monthly forecasts.
Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
Ensure compliance with all HMG policies.
Works a full time schedule.
Some night and weekend work may be required.Qualifications:
Education: BS/BA degree in Accounting or equivalent accounting/finance experience Certification: Not required.
Experience In: 5+ years of accounting and/or financial reporting, planning and analysis 3+ years, minimum, managing 3+ employees while delegating day-to-day responsibilities in order to work on special projects Knowledge:
Understanding of newspaper systems, interrelations and processes, is a plus.Technical Skills:
Solid accounting knowledge base Must possess strong analytical skills Financial systems understanding Ability to use computer and related application software.
Proficient in use of Excel spreadsheets, word processing, database and reporting software.

Ability to work long hours as needed (i.e., monthly closings, budget, etc.) Complexity: On minor issues, as defined by management, position is expected to identify and articulate complexities and offer viable options for management to consider.
Independent Thinking: On minor issues, position is expected to identify options, consult direct supervisor, gain consensus where possible and implement decisions independent of oversight.
On major issues, options should be presented to Supervisor for consideration.
Position involves judgment on balance between providing independent leadership and seeking direction.
