The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of general ledger, including supervision of 2 staff members. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, internal and external audit preparation, and internal control documentation.
Specific responsibilities of the Accounting Manager will include, but not be limited to:
Supervises the general ledger accounting team.
Performs monthly closing and reporting activities in a timely manner.
Ensure timeliness of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Ensures accounting conforms to GAAP and meets SOX requirements.
Prepares or coordinates the preparation of governmental, compliance, and tax reports and returns.
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
Responds to inquiries from the Assistant Controller, and other finance and firm wide manager regarding financial results, special reporting requests.
Maintains work area in accordance with established housekeeping procedures to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be required, such as providing occasional back-up for accounts payable or accounts receivable.
BS or MBA in Accounting
CPA or CMA (Accounting certification required)
Minimum 4 years, with a mix of Public Accounting and Industry experience
Supervisory experience in financial reporting/general ledger area
Extensive US GAAP experience
Results driven and willing to take initiative.
Strong communication skills (written/oral/presentations).
Proven ability to influence others at all levels and across functional responsibilities.
Ability to drive initiatives across multiple sites and functional responsibilities.
Strong technical accounting background (preferably in a manufacturing environment).
Capabilities to lead and manage people with a collaborative style.
Advanced analytical, business modeling, ERP System experience (Oracle/Hyperion preferred).
Have a high sense of urgency
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
