Interstate Restoration is a national emergency response restoration and general contractor specializing in the return of compromised property to their pre-loss condition. We work with our clients to restore their properties. Our team restores commercial, multifamily, hospitality, educational properties from water damages, flood, fire, smoke and natural disasters.

This position will play a key role to ensure the company complies with responsibilities relating to general accounting and reporting tasks. The primary functional areas the position will oversee will be customer billings and collections, sales tax, property tax and other general accounting matters. The position is based in our Fort Worth, TX corporate office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the team of 6 to 10 team members in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws, which includes: interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and reviewing work of direct reports. Will conduct regular performance reviews, along with coaching and developing team members

  • Traditional general ledger accounting and meeting month end close deadlines, including review and/or preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and required reporting

  • Manage the customer billing functions including customer set up, invoicing and payment application

  • Analyze and make recommendations for improving receivables turnover, bad debt adjustments and reserves

  • Prepare/review monthly aging assessing status of receivables

  • Maintain lien/bond rights where applicable

  • Manage all aspects of multi-state sales/use tax returns, property tax, income taxes, international taxes and tax audits

  • Responsible for the timely completion of financial or business information requests or questions, as needed; these requests may be from departmental managers, controllers, the CFO or other company executives, customers, auditors, tax preparers, bankers, or other business partners

  • Assists in the implementation of system and process enhancements for all functional areas of responsibility, including document storage and retrieval maintenance

  • Other special projects from CFO or Controller as needed

Technical Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical reasoning skills with the ability to investigate variances and issues as they arise

  • Strong computer skills and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word; previous experience with accounting software systems and integration of modules or applications such as job costing/WIP

Behavioral Qualification

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-pace, dynamic environment, solving problems with a customer service attitude and being able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external third parties

  • Must be well organized and take initiative to remove obstacles for his/her team's progress

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

  • Minimum of 7 years generally accepted accounting experience in a mid to large size company

  • Minimum of 5 years accounting supervisory experience

  • Experience preparing account reconciliations, journal entries with related support, audit documentation and meeting month end deadlines

  • Experience in accounts receivable with a working knowledge of all facets including customer invoices, sales tax in multiple states, applying cash receipts and adjustments

  • Experience with a job cost application within an ERP system

  • Experience in an ERP system with a Job Cost module

  • Experience preparing monthly reports as well as audit work papers and gathering appropriate documentation for external auditor requests

  • Construction accounting experience is highly desirable, with experience in a multi-state environment with duties related to billing (time and materials & lump sum) and collection as well as sales tax compliance

  • Knowledge of Sage 300/Timberline a plus

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. Use of standard office equipment such as computer and smartphone is required
