The Accounting Manager is responsible for oversight and execution of general accounting and reporting for multiple legal entities within the shared service center of Leica Biosystems, North America.

  • Manage LBS Shared Services GL accounting team to meet obligations, including completion of month end close, sales tax filings, SOX controls testing, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting matters

  • Support business stakeholders through analysis of balance sheet accounts, profit and loss statements, and balance fluctuations from period to period

  • Collaborate in a highly matrixed global environment with the Director, Accounting Shared Services and other members of the Finance Leadership Team to ensure the accuracy and completion of month end close processes for US and Canada operating units

  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations and associated journal entries for accuracy and completeness

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for assigned areas of responsibility

  • Prepare responses for audits and provide support, as needed, for Danaher Corporate US and Canada tax compliance

  • Drive alignment of key month end processes & internal controls across North America accounting in line with Danaher standards

  • Demonstrate Danaher Leadership Anchor values & behaviors

  • Measure performance and develop GL accounting team

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • 6+ years of relevant accounting experience in a public company

  • 3 years supervisory or project team leadership experience in a global, matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated knowledge of year-end testing, GAAP and internal controls required.

  • Extensive knowledge in accounting, payroll, receivable and payable procedures required.

  • Experience with process simplification to establish best practices.

  • Experience excelling in a robust, shared services environment.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to supervise and develop accounting staff

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and integrated ERP systems, preferably SAP

  • Superior analytical, communication, and quantitative skills; ability to analyze complex processes/issues and drive simple outcomes

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and agility in dealing with multiple business models.

  • Education

  • BA/BA in Finance, Accounting or a related field required.


  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.

  • Typical work-related travel assignments range 1-5 days, and as such may require overnight, out-of-town stays.

In this role, you will be a key member of the Finance and Accounting Team and will be responsible for various corporate accounting operations and play a key role in integration of acquisitions. Accounting Manager job duties: Assist in accounting integration of domestic acquisitions as they arise, including but not limited to transition of payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting operations. Perform all general accounting and fixed asset processes for one of the Companys domestic subsidiaries. Assist in the timely and accurate global consolidation of the Companys financial results using Hyperion FCCS. Assist in the implementation and enhancement of accounting and financial reporting systems to further automate processes for efficiencies and effectiveness while maintaining internal controls. Cooperate with external auditors during annual audit process. Assist FP&A team with operational budgeting process, mid-year forecasting and other inquiries and analysis. Assist in implementation of new accounting standards, as needed. Perform other activities and special projects, as needed. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred; Minimum of eight plus years of experience, public accounting experience preferred. Experience with JDE preferred. An excellent knowledge of US GAAP is required, combined with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues. Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to execute and follow-through to produce complete, accurate and timely deliverables. Attention to detail and accuracy are required. Hyperion (HFM or FCCS) experience is a plus.
