A global professional services firm is currently seeking a Global Financial Accounting Manager to join their dynamic team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing, training, and coaching the Financial Accounting Staff and leading them in their professional development endeavors. Organizing, assigning, delegating and coordinating the work of the staff to ensure department objectives are met timely and accurately.
  • Generating performance evaluations, and recommending salary increases. Also working with HR to recruit, select, train, and coach, employees.
  • Implementing the firms accounting policies and providing guidance with regards to accounting transactions.
  • Managing all accounting activities to ensure compliance with statuary requirements of all countries where the firm is located.
  • Leading the process for the monthly close as well as maintenance of all accounting ledgers including monthly review of all account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Managing the preparation of all financial reports, including profit and loss statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows, as well as the year-end financial reports.
  • Ensuring timely explanations of variances between actual results and forecasts/budgets; provides corrective action recommendations to management, where necessary.
  • Managing general accounting processes and reports of all entities such as inter-company, fixed assets, accounting, and financial.
  • Preparing tax schedules and coordinating tax work papers for the tax group.
  • Reviewing and ensuring completion of all balance sheet reconciliations. Communicating findings to senior management as necessary.
  • Working with internal and external auditors during reviews and auditing to ensure full cooperation from accounting staff and compliance with all qualified requests.
A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business or related field is required and an MBA or CPA is preferred. Seven (7) years related experience in a professional services environment, five (5) years related experience managing General Ledger Accounting and four (4) years supervisory/management experience is desired. Occasional travel is required. Strong knowledge and proficiency of PC applications, including MS Office and Microsoft Excel is required.

Global Investment Control directly supports Capital Group's Investment professionals, helps implement investment decisions and facilitate the investment process. Operating from locations in North America, Europe, and Asia, core functions include order management, portfolio construction and Fund/client account compliance, corporate action communication and coordination, and proxy services, among others. These services support the management of equity and fixed income portfolios for retail, institutional and private clients. As a Senior Manager based in Los Angeles, you will play a key leadership role in the Portfolio Guideline Analysis (PGA) group within Global Investment Control. This team is responsible for overseeing Funds/client account and other tasks to ensure guidelines are set up appropriately and the Senior Manager will lead the Los Angeles based team as well as partner with other Senior Managers to lead the function globally. You will help drive the business forward by leading through current and future business challenges within the PGA group and the broader GIC department. This role is accountable for scaling operations and supporting teams to operate smartly from a people, process, and technology perspective. This includes accountability for setting goals and objectives for the team, performance management and development, and long term, strategic planning. Finally, you will manage a variety of internal and external relationships, including investment professionals, legal & compliance, distribution and occasionally clients. Responsibilities: * Participates in decision-making for Global Investment Control at a global and cross-functional capacity, developing strategic business recommendations and processes, ensuring alignment of priorities and objectives, validating operational changes and guiding execution. * Keeps abreast of internal and external trends, mandate changes and global regulatory updates and determines how the impact of those adjustments will affect business operations. Develops, recommends and manages processes, procedures and practices within Portfolio Guidelines function. * Consults with and advises senior leadership and Investment Committees on strategic business matters. * Fosters a culture where associates feel valued, engaged, and able to connect their contributions to the broader strategic priorities * Builds high performing and engaged teams through intentional performance management and development. * Sets the tone in the department and ensures Capital Group's core values and philosophy are reflected through consistent role modeling. * Manages department operations through department and functional team budget and resource planning, as well as, achieving the right balance of service, quality, and cost.
