Manager - Technical Accounting and Policy: Become the Newest Member of the VF Family VF has a decentralized accounting structure, with finance teams in place around the world to provide accounting and reporting for each brand and geography. The Manager - Technical Accounting & Policy reports to the Director of Technical Accounting and Policy and will work within the Corporate Finance department, which is responsible for the Company's external financial reporting, consolidated financial close and technical accounting projects. The Corporate Finance Department has overall responsibility for VF's financial reporting process, including policies, practices and interaction with global finance teams. The Manager - Technical Accounting & Policy will assist with various projects including evaluation of new accounting standards, acquisitions, divestitures, annual goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing, share-based compensation matters, other significant transactions and day-to-day technical accounting matters. This is an interesting position due to the varying duties for which this person is responsible and provides an opportunity to see the operating results of the entire multi-national corporation and interact with finance teams around the world. This is a challenging position due to a wide variety of responsibilities / tasks and the individual should have the ability to self-direct. How You Will Make a Difference: * You will support the application of corporate accounting policies and procedures * You will assist with the implementation of new/revised accounting standards * You will provide technical support in functional accounting areas such as earnings per share, foreign currency, leases, segment reporting, derivatives, stock-based compensation, goodwill and intangible assets * You will actively engage with coalition finance staff in US and international locations to provide assistance with accounting questions and issues * You will act as a liaison with tax, treasury, legal, internal audit and financial planning and analysis with regard to accounting matters and policy setting * You will participate in the planning, execution and accounting for business acquisitions and assist with project management * You will cross-train with other positions in the department (Consolidations and SEC reporting) Skills for Success: * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written * Ability to perform detailed and accurate reviews, including self-review of work product * Understanding and analysis of business operations in order to assist with implementation of policy to all locations * Cognitive skills to synthesize multiple inputs and reach a single optimal solution * Ability to manage multiple priorities and produce quality work in challenging situations * Ability to combine technical expertise with practical application to reach an optimal solution for VF * Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations * Good project management skills * Receptive attitude to learning new skills and accepting feedback to continuously improve * Excellent relationship skills to facilitate interaction with other departments and coalitions * Ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels across VF * Willingness and ability to travel to domestic and international locations Educational/ Position Requirements: * Years of Related Professional Experience: 4-5+ * Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred; CPA required Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements: * Must be able to travel periodically to domestic and international locations. * Must be able to work extended hours at quarter-end and year-end, and at other times as needed, to meet external reporting deadlines.
