Responsibilities

Job Purpose

This position will have managerial and accounting responsibility for wind, solar, transmission and other projects under construction.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage construction accounting team by reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, stand alone and consolidated financial statements and ensuring accounting process is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley

  • Manage monthly close process to ensure timely completion of consolidation and reporting deliverables including projects' loan compliance

  • Review balance sheet and income statement variance analysis for internal and external reporting

  • Read, interpret and guide staff in determination of proper US GAAP and IFRS accounting treatment of complex deals/transactions

  • Ensure consistent application of US GAAP and IFRS

  • Manage corporate audit by interfacing with auditors, ensuring timely completion of supporting schedules related to Form 10-Q and 10-K

  • Support the development and documentation of and implement accounting policies

  • Mentor staff in developing their understanding of wind and solar asset origination and operations and keep staff abreast of accounting guidance

  • Prepare and/or review annual budgets and forecasts

  • Communicate with domestic and foreign offices, third parties and within Finance team to coordinate information gathering and resolve accounting issues

  • Coordinate accounting system enhancements in accordance with management's objectives and company resources

  • Hands on use, data entry and navigation of general ledger and reporting systems

  • Other special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Educational Experience

BS degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of coursework and experience is required. CPA and public accounting experience is a plus.

Required Work Experience

The following criteria will be used as a basis for Pattern to select a qualified applicant:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience

  • Experience working in the renewable energy industry highly preferred

  • Accounting experience at a US public company

  • Exposure to Sarbanes Oxley

  • Ability to lead a team consisting of two or more direct reports

  • Multi-level consolidations with minority interests

  • Equity and cost accounting for investments

  • Multiple businesses with multiple functional currencies

  • Purchase accounting business combinations

Additional Requirements

Must possess strengths in the following:

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong "hands on" technical skills with a keen, thorough attention to detail

  • Strong technical and analytical accounting background and familiarity or experience with complex accounting issues, consolidations, US and foreign GAAP issues, foreign currency re-measurement and translation, multiple corporate structures, equity and investment accounting

  • Commitment and ability to meet deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, follow-through, and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines

  • Enjoys working in a very "hands on" and detail-oriented environment

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision

  • Self-starter with flexibility, desire to learn, willing to ask questions and take ownership of projects

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Technical Skills

Computer skills Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and OneNote). The Company uses Microsoft AX, D365 general ledger, fixed asset, accounts payable, accounts receivable software and Hyperion consolidation software.
