Chuck Latham Associates and H&C Animal Health is hiring for an Accounting Manager. This position will assist in providing direction and leadership in the administrative, business planning, accounting, budgeting, and automation efforts of Chuck Latham Associates, Inc. and H&C Animal Health's Accounting Department. This is an in office position located in our Parker, CO home office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing the financial programs and supporting information systems of the accounting department, to include budgeting, receipt of revenue, expenditure of funds, and conservation of assets.

  • Supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution. Motivates Accounting & Finance team members to achieve peak productivity and performance.

  • Assists in maintaining financial records systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Implements processing of revenues (accounts receivable), expenditures (accounts payable), payroll, general ledger and the maintenance of accounts and sub-ledgers, ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures, and ensures maintenance of appropriate internal control safeguards.

  • Maintains tracking of assets and liabilities.

  • Initiates bank transactions, including ACH, EFT, wire payments and intercompany transfers.

  • Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports for the Senior Team for Chuck Latham Associates, Inc., H&C Animal Health and related companies at the direction of Controller.

  • Prepares monthly forecast spreadsheet for company financial review via conference call.

  • Works with tax accountants to produce annual tax returns.

  • Works with outside accounting firm to produce annual reviewed financial statements.

  • Assists with bank audits.

  • Back-up for payroll processing.

  • Responsible for cross-training of each department position and ability to back-up each position as needed.

  • Provides support and progress to business unit managers and the senior team in planning initiatives, through management and financial information analysis, weekly commission reports and recommendations.

  • At the direction of Controller and CFO, implements short-range and long-range departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures in conjunction with managers and leadership. Effects changes required for improvement.

  • Assists in the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, program, and systems in conjunction with Controller, managers and Executive Leadership.

  • Participates in CLA programs and agency activities.

  • Uses company information in a discreet manner.

  • Supervision of accounting personnel, which includes work allocation and review, training, problem resolution, and performance evaluations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with 2+ years of management duties

  • Inventory and cost accounting background

  • Experience with CPG companies a plus

  • A positive work attitude

  • Must be a hands-on manager that inspires excellent work product from the department

  • Strong ability to multi-task

  • Excellent management skills in supervising a close knit, cross functional team to achieve outstanding results

  • Wide range of accounting and financial experience is required in areas such as GL system set up, developing and monitoring budgets, job costing and income tax reporting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong GAAP Knowledge

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of Sage 100

  • Working knowledge of Planful/Host Analytics

  • Working knowledge of Concur Expense, Invoice and PO

  • Experience with various state reporting requirements including sales tax
