Accounting Manager / Full-Charge Bookkeeper

Tomball, TX

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee and manage all accounting functions within our construction company. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, construction project accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. You will lead a team to ensure timely and accurate financial records, compliance with regulations, and effective financial management across all company projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and oversee the reconciliation of accounts. Ensure all entries are accurately recorded and comply with accounting standards.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the company, ensuring compliance with accounting standard.
  • Project Accounting: Oversee job costing, financial tracking of projects, and ensure that costs are properly allocated.
  • Sales Tax Reporting: Will be responsible for filing & paying Sales Tax in multiple States.
  • Accounts Payable & Payroll: Will serve as a back-up for A/P and Payroll as needed.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of project and operational budgets. Monitor and update forecasts to ensure projects are on track financially, adjusting for any variances.
  • Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow for the company and projects, ensuring adequate funds are available for construction activities and supplies while maintaining financial health.
  • Team Management: Lead, train, and develop the accounting team (2), providing guidance and support in their day-to-day tasks and career development.
  • Cost Estimation: Collaborate with project managers in estimating costs and developing financial forecasts for upcoming projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, contract management, project-based financial reporting.
  • Experience / knowledge of filing Sales Tax in multiple states.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Leadership experience and the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
